The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor.
At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. “Landlord, is this what you meant by ‘the house can be a little crowded at night’‽”

If you are planning on reading this, do note that , this novel is a funny , horror mystery and psychological novel. This is a good novel for those who want to enjoy the horror and comedic aspect. Just because it has a 5 star rating does not means it's a perfect novel. Don't force yourself to read it in one go. As some of the interactions with the side characters can get borring quickly. It is much more enjoyable if you read it slowly(about 15-20 chapters a day , really it just relative) paired with some mystery tracks. If you start finding it borring, take breaks and come back only when you are refreshed and are wanting to read this novel . Otherwise, it is not for you
I do not know much about Chinese names so I thought I will ask you people: Do you read boss Chen's name as Chen-gay or Chen-jay? . The 'Ge' confuses me...
this made me cry because it was too scary
I don't like horror much so I was going to pass on this, Then I saw people praising The Fool so now I have to check this out. I got high expectations starting this novel. Imma have to read with my TV on a night though.
I was wondering whether I should start Mother of Learning or this after finishing The Perfect Run but I found out that MoL has a similar concept to TPR so I decided to keep that for later and read this. I'm interested in its horror tag since there are few actual horror novels I've seen, and most don't take that tag seriously either.
Should i read this as audio book or normaly because im a slow reader and idk if audio book will take away from horor, i mean even when reading LOTM as audio book i still got chills on like room full of blood and all that
