This novel is one of the most engaging I've read on this site! The protagonist evolves and discovers the story step by step and we can see the whole process and his thoughts. The interactions with the other characters are very interesting and fun except for one character who only unlocks after 400 chapters. The story itself is interesting but the thing that struck me the most is the writing that keeps you glued with countless twists. There is little or no romance and it is absolutely not a harem. The only thing that bothers me is that it is set in an academy but there are few slice of life. Overall I loved it and I can't wait for the new chapters!
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Fairest of Them All? Mirror would certainly answer “Not Advent of Three Calamities”. Why? Because the mirror never lies, the same as Zaratustra is always right. Reason? Monotony, simple as it is. The author found the Golden Formula for sucking readers in, making them say “O wow, I read that thousand times already”. Okay since I’m done with my sarcastic prologue let’s start the proper part of the review. The author starts with a BANG, but not the atomic kind but emotional one, skillfully making the more sensitive readers shed a tear, drawing us in with psychology, with self sacrifice, with existentialism worthy of Nietzsche or Camus. And… that’s it. Except for the prologue, which was really unique, the novel doesn’t have anything to offer for more experienced or mature readers - that is to say, everything we read after that, you can read in the author's previous work. The Golden Formula I spoke of earlier is something i would name “sold once, it will sell second time”. TAPOV is almost the same in terms of themes, characters, plot twists, or even romance as AoTC. I feel like mr. Entrail_JI is wasting his talent making the same story but with a different background. While TAPOV was flawed, from the middle to almost the end it steadily grew more and more refined, more “bookish”. I can see that the author tried to create something new and unique, something more mature - in the end we got TAPOV 2. 0 with cooler MC. Now to the next question!!! FANS :”LET’S SPIN THE WHEEL!!” “sounds of wheel spinning” ME: “Is AoTC a bad novel?” - I read the question with utter shock. My hands start trembling, my mouth feels dry as if I’m choking on a handful of sand, my mind is like a dulled blade. I don’t know how to answer such a question. Am I even capable of providing an answer? Am I even worthy of criticizing someone's work when I can’t bring myself to write my own BOOK? I take a look at my surroundings, looking for some kind of comfort only to realize… there is none. Taking a deep breath I bring myself to give my answer. Slowly opening my mouth, my lips trembling, after silence so long it felt suffocating, “No” is the only word I can quietly utter. Feeling disappointed in myself I start to fanatically justify my own reason. “ Even with all its flaws I had fun reading this book. Isn’t that what is really important in books? Fun… it was pure fun. ” - A smile started to form on my lips, having finally found the courage to say that I felt… full, complete, as if I finally became one with myself. Okay done with the artistic part. The novel is just fun to read, constant action, almost no room for a breather, fairly good power system, average but joyful characters. It all makes the reader glued to the monitor waiting for more. Oooof i got tired writing this “not-so” review. Well I would prefer to call it an artistic opinion. Bye, see you around, when I will be done with the next novel - expect me to entertain you again. Dear Readers, let’s meet ourselves beyond our wildest dreams again.
This is one of the best novels on this website. At first it might be a little confusing but stick with it! It's consistently entertaining and actually manages to be unpredictable which is rare for web novels.
I will not lie. This novel is just bad writing. Plane and simple. . . Everything feels rushed and I can tell from reading each chapter that the author uploaded them without any reviewing or editing or proofreading. It's like he just wrote the chapters and sent them like that. The worst part is that I actually liked his previous novel, The Author's POV, and expected this new 'novel' of his -- if it can be called that -- to be as good, or even better than the first one but was massively disappointed. There are a few interesting fight scenes, there is a lot of setup and major potential for later developments for some of the established concepts, but it cannot make up for all the rest since the author never follows through with his ideas, making the story inconsistent and full of plot holes. The story ends up being boring, and with no real stakes. And it doesn't help that the characters (the MC particularly) have no drive, personality, or actual logic, and are not relatable. Normally I would give 3 stars to a novel like this one to encourage a débutante author but i can't do that with this author since he has some level of experience. I don't know what happened to the author to write something of such poor quality but I hope he gets his act together and write something better, and soon.
I was a bit confused in the beginning(only like chapters 1-3) but after that, it started picking up and it just kept getting better and better. It became so good that I began to crave more and more and more and eventually I even stopped reading shadow slave. . . I became addicted to this. . . and now I've finished it all and oh boy it has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved every second I read this book. I just wanna say I am very very very very very very happy with reading this book and if you are hesitant to read this book like yah boi then don't you *d**t this book changed my life and I am currently a completely other person, I am a changed man I am a completed man I am everything and I will be everything in this world. sorry for the yap session. . .
On 384 I’m almost caught up and I remember hesitating to read this😭. This is 100% worth the read it gets better as u go but I’m it starts pretty solid. Beginning might confuse a lil people but after reading this “trust the process” is something I continuously experienced and it always delivers in the end. After the void of I will kill the author this has satisfied me fr. 8. 5 could’ve been a 9 but I feel like author needs to add little more breathers with more character development example Evelyne gets none until like 270+ and most of the times she’s absent for some moments while everyone but her is there💀. Well she gets her time to shine but that’s a lot of chapters for someone so important to the plot. Either way everything else is up there go read
Love it, better than TAPOV, that feeling of joy while reading a novel has been out of me for a long time, but that novel has brought it back. You can feel the tension and the somber themes while reading it and that Julien will not have it easy, The only down point is that the three calamities are girls, and I tired of that cliche
I just finished reading the novel and I would say that it's a serious improvement after author previous novel From character interactions to lore and everything in general. I started without much thought but it really hooked me

Can you tell me a little spoiler about what makes the plot good? I enjoyed it at first, but after the MC was immediately caught entering someone else's body with his stupid behavior (telling other people his own weaknesses) and being taken advantage of by other people where the other person is actually kind enough to offer equal cooperation even though the other person could have made Mc became his slave, i stuck. I wanted to give this novel a chance, but I really couldn't continue it because of the trauma of MC Shadow Slave being a slave to a side character.
I say this is a really great one, much better than entrail's Author's POV. Mc is better written than Ren and the story generally as a whole too. Most of the arcs are good 8 or 9 out of 10 except maybe church one being a 7 personally. Overall Author's POV had better side characters honestly until now and better world building but this is not nearly finished yet. If you liked APOV, time travel, mind bending sh*t, and a sprikle of good romance and better written with a good pacing and no fillers yet. 10/10 would recommend
It's meh. The author has clearly recycled most of the story from authors pov, with the mc being a 'sidecharacter' to the 'protagonist'. The events/fights that occur feel forced and repetitive, with the mc having to stop the bad guys and progress the 'game'. Considering how good authors pov was, I can't blame the author for playing it safe; however, it would've been nice to see a more unique story.
