Why does this Novel only have 14 reviews that contribute to it's 4.4 rating

its like reading the same chapter over and over again. I don't know how else to explain it. i got to chapter 270 and it was just like reading the same sh*t happening every chapter. it will take 10000 chapters for mc to even finish basic schooling at this pace. yikes

You're looking at the Popular ranking, switches up when new releases get out and not very reliable, good novels have been dry lately so some trash gets through for a bit. The Most Read ranking is a bit more reliable but harder to find gems in it

I want to express my pet peeve against Poison Testers. I hate these people. They make reviews and comments only after reading 60 to 100 chapters. The Volume 1 contains 143 chapters and Volume 2 would end at 295. Using LOTM as an example, 90% of Volume 1 is mainly worldbuilding (some people doesn't really like that) and the banger chapters (the REAL story) only began at the end around 190-210. If you poison test only at 150 then call it boring (which a lot actually do), that is just pointless and misleading. The good story needs proper pacing that took time to setup. It is my personal stance that you could only reliably make reviews if you read at least Volume 1-2 or a significant percentage of the novel. Anyways, I am not gonna read this bcos the title is indeed cringe lmao, but at least read the 1st volume before rating it.

You seriously can handle The Primal Hunter? The Tutorial phase is good yes, its full of gritty battles and the grinding is even interesting to read in some way, but after that it's horribly boring to read and like nothing happen at all in almost every chapter. Because the MC is too OP there's no more exciting battle ever happen again, even an emotional battle ended in one move, after all of that escalation and emotional momentum and puff it's just ended, in a most boring way. I honestly don't know what reason I should continue to read it.

No... I had this in the beginning, for months already. Think about this. I have two google accounts that I use thru various reasons. This website could login thru auto-sync. So for convivence sake, I made 2 accounts. I am now using the secondary google account more often. So me using this alt which is connected to the the secondary google account just make sense. I am not weird. Come on, I am not the only one who had multiple google accounts.

I mean they're just reviewers, its up to you if you want to stick out with a novel. But given the upload rate of most web novels, it is quite a time investment for the author actually to publish more than 100 chapters. For a new novel like those, if the poison testers say its mid its best to just come back after it has 200ish chapters. Then make your own choice

    • Himmy 15

you shouldn't be speaking bad about poison testers. We would be nothing without him, besides the likelihood of a book being *ss if the first 100 chapters are *ss are very high. Granted there novels like LOTM which are outliers, but honestly not many novels can even compare to LOTM.

Let's put that 100-chapter rule to a test. How about Primal Hunter? Is it trash because of its overly dragging pacing? If you rate it at 100, you'll miss out the amazing Tutorial Boss Fight that will happen at 108. How about Son of the Hero King? The author kept insisting in its Author's Note that it's 'cooking' something. If you rate it at 100, you'll miss out the big event that happened around 130s. Turning all the setup wasted. How about The Innkeeper? Is it trash because the 1st volume is canonically aimless because of the MCs mental illness? That the Real Story actually started around 200. How about Circle of Inevitability? Is it a correct assessment if you limit yourself at 100 and kept complaining "Boring. Nothing make sense" and "where is Klein? I miss Klein!', excluding the big reveal at 107? I loathe this practice of poison testing of only the first 50-100 chapters.

How much of Dimenional Descent did you read that you dare call it trash. It is easy one of the best title of this side with one of the most extensive world building and power system. Even even 2000 chapters in the novel it always goes back to the beginning and shows us how little knew

"the novel it always goes back to the beginning and shows us how little (we) knew" Isn't that an excuse of the author, so it could just bu lls hit anything on the get go? An illusion of complexity after adding patchwork after patchwork of shoddy worldbuilding. I do admit it have breadth, too complex even, but it has little to no depth. I've seen comments and reviews stating "It is actually pretty good we are just too dumb to understand it!". Is it really well-written if you admit you don't understand it? The consensus that "you have turn your brain off to enjoy it". Like what I wrote at ch. 1000, if you started the story as total garbage, people would perceive that any form of improvement as amazing writing. The admission of "how little (you) knew" could be interpreted as an red herring that "nobody actually knew what the fxck is going on".

One of the charms of Dimensional descent is that it is written like you are entering a new world and know close to nothing about this world. It is not written to give us a feeling of an omniscient reader, the more leonel learns about the world, the more the reader learns about it. its not just an excuse for the author to get away with plot holes. Everything is built up on the premises that it is like in the real world, that the knowledge you gain let you view the past in a different light. Leonels obsession with Ania, his tpersonality, the world building, the power scaling you will get a different understanding from everything. But it will not be in an unnatural way. Such things like conversations will have a different meaning than you thought after the mc gets certain informations. The more the story progress the more your world view changes

"One of the charms of Dimensional descent is that [...] it will not be (written) in an unnatural way." I highly doubt that point. DD is the very opposite of organic story telling. I will never forget the "Season is Temperature" to "Season is a Passage of Time" realization. That is an insult to the intelligence of the readers. The pattern of dumbing down of previous arcs to prime it as an big reveal later is lazy. How about wedging the long "Aina Ra pe Arc" right in the middle of the climax of "Merlin Trial Arc". No sane writer would do that. How about when Leonel, who uses "earth bending", was attacked in a tunnel. Used his spear ineffectively instead of the earth surrounding them. A fight that could ended in several paragraphs dragged out for 5-6 chapters. When he somehow instantly recognized a "secret" language without any inclination that he should be knowledgeable in that topic. A lot of the plot is forced. The pacing is all over the place. Tell me, are those natural writing?!

Yes I also somtimes think that the pacing is not good sometimes and I don't really remember that "season is time" reveal so i can't really say something about that. But it was revealed that leonal is a spark and got manipulated by his future self not just passively but also actively. It was not a coincident that leonal picked up a spear just to later find out that he has a spear lineage factor. His future self planted in him certain Ideas and he also got subconscious connected to his future self. We take the example with the tunnel (that i don't remember). leonel subconscious thought that he has to fight with the spear because that is how his future self would fight. And something like understanding a secret language is possible if your future self already knows that language or has such vast knowledge about countless languages that you can access, even if just subconsciously.

You dropped Mother of Learning, Supremacy Games, and The Beginning After the End? Seriously??? They are easily the best of the best of this niche have to offer. How is it possible?

Mother of Learning -I dropped around 80% completion. The ultra long chapters drained my soul and motivation to continue. Also, the MCs did something highly inefficient, a glaring flaw of logic, that just thinking about those choices makes me infuriated. I am already primed after consuming several time travel stories and they did a lot of actions near the end that is deemed stupid. I was disappointed. Supremacy Games -Too many tags. I had a novel burnout at the time. The sheer variety of genre and themes put inside the story overloaded me. Also, around that time I developed a disdain to the overuse of mythology in literature. The limit is the imagination, why not create new ones, like the Daemons of Shadow Slave or Great Old Ones of LOTM. Mythology has been bastardized and fetishized throughout all media that it has become too cliché. The Beginning After the End -Too dark. Too bitter. Some stories are fun to read. TBATE is just depressing. I have too much of that depression already.
