Chapter 92: Life on the Line

Xu Yue's serious question put Liu Ye in a daze.

Could he really fight someone who has probably spent countless hours mastering his elements? It wasn't a game where he could die infinitely. One wrong move and he would be dead for real.

"Do you know how to awaken?" Liu Ye questioned confused. If she knew, why didn't she tell him about it earlier?

"I wasn't supposed to use it until later but we don't seem to have a choice," Xu Yue replied as he held his face. "I have a Water Stone sitting in my safe. If you consume it, maybe you can awaken on the spot."

Liu Ye widened his eyes, immediately tempted to try it but his rationality kicked in. If they bet everything on fighting this man, they would lose the chance to escape.

"The people that chose you as a candidate are coming to save us," Liu Ye informed seriously. "As long as we can stay safe till then, we will have better chances to survive. Even if I can awaken, I wouldn't risk trying to fight him."

Although he was confident of his skills in-game, real life was much different. Who knew if Waterbending worked the same as in the game.

As soon as he finished speaking, they heard the ice block move through the stone pathway. Liu Ye peeked through the pillar and saw the ice fortress paving its way. He didn't hesitate and pulled Xu Yue back inside the villa.

They saw Leader Xu get up from the floor full of glass and ice but he seemed fine despite multiple scratches so she quickly skipped towards the stairs.

"Everyone! Listen to Liu Ye, I will be right back!"

"What is going on?!" Leader Xu questioned grimly as he wiped the blood from his face. "Do you know anything?"

All the guards shared the same shock and disbelief while Leader Xu seemed calmer than normal. He looked at him suspiciously as if he already noticed the two of them were not scared either.

"The man outside has the power to control water element. If we don't focus, he will reach the villa and kill us all," Liu Ye called out sternly as he gazed at all men in the room. "Grab your weapons and shoot at the same spot. Even though he is powerful, he is still scared to get shot! We only need one bullet!"

He didn't waste time and pulled out his pistol to show an example by shooting through the window.

Bang!

As soon as the bullet pierced into the ice, the young man stopped advancing.

"See! He can't advance and defend at the same time. He doesn't have infinite power either!" Liu Ye cried out. "I know you are scared but that's our only chance!"

The guards swallowed hard and finally listened by grouping up near the available windows.

"I don't know what's going on but I expect an explanation once we kill this fucker," Leader Xu replied as he joined them as well.

"When you see the water curtain, find a cover!" Liu Ye warned as he ignored Leader Xu and yelled for the last time.

"Fire!"

The sound of all guns firing was insane, slowly hurting his ears. Their ammunition was limited but they seem to be doing a good job at stalling for more time.

When he ran out of bullets, Liu Ye checked if Xu Yue came back yet and rushed to the dining room to check on Zhenzhen. He didn't want her to run out in search of him just like last time. Thankfully, she seemed more disciplined this time and was hiding with Mrs. Xu under the table.

"Big Bro!" Zhenzhen yelled as soon as she saw him and immediately crawled out to hug him. "I thought you got hurt!"

Her cheeks were still wet from tears but she quickly wiped them with a hand to hide them.

"Don't worry, I'm fine but the situation doesn't look good," Liu Ye replied honestly as he gazed at Mrs. Xu. "I want you to take Zhenzhen together with all the workers and leave in the secret tunnel. The enemy is not after you but after me so you should be safe."

"No!" Zhenzhen immediately denied as she clung to him. "I'm not leaving you anywhere! If you want me to leave, you have to go with me!"

"Zhenzhen! This is serious!" Liu Ye warned just as the gunshots ceased and hundreds of ice shards began to bombard the house once again. Even the door to the dining area was not spared as sharp ice almost pierced through them.

"Is that ice? What is going on?" Mrs. Xu questioned only to exclaim in worry when Xu Yue burst inside through the door. "Xu Yue! What the hell happened?!"

Liu Ye turned around only to see Xu Yue swiftly grab the chair to support herself. Her arm was bleeding profusely while her back had an ice shard stabbed through the kevlar vest. It seemed like instead of ice bullets, the young man switched to small spears instead.

"Liu Ye... I couldn't find you..." Xu Yue muttered with a pained groan as she displayed a sky-blue stone on her palm. "Take it from me and eat it..."

She could barely breathe as she spoke, causing Liu Ye's heart to sink.

"Xu Yue!" Liu Ye immediately rushed to check on her and couldn't help but curse in his mind. Her arm's wound wasn't too deep but the small ice spear in Xu Yue's back was deep in her back. The chances it pierced her lungs were really high and the bleeding was only getting worse.

If he pulled out the spear, she would bleed out to death in a matter of minutes. Liu Ye has never made a quicker decision than at that moment.

"Zhenzhen, eat it. We need your healing now," Liu Ye urged as he took the pill from Xu Yue's palm.

Zhenzhen was still stunned but seeing Xu Yue's face turning pale, Zhenzhen grabbed the Water Stone and ate it without any questions. Her body momentarily trembled a second later.
