Chapter 19: Near Death

The man finally couldn’t help it. He said coldly: “How long do you plan on sticking to me like this?”

‘Such a cold voice?’

Xin Siyue had a bad hunch. She was hesitant at first, but when she finally raised her head to look up at the man’s face, there was a loud ‘thump’ sound and a sharp pain pierced her forehead. Then she heard a clear voice exclaim: “Hey!”

Xin Siyue was in such pain at their collision. She reached out and rubbed her aching forehead, feeling a little dizzy. The next second, she noticed Chen Sinan’s handsome face looking down at her with a dark expression. She pushed him aside in fright and backed away several steps.

However, she forgot that behind her was the top of a staircase, the very place where she made her phone call earlier while leaning against the railings. Now that she had backed away several steps, her right foot suddenly found no floor to step on and she inevitably lost her balance. Xin Siyue instinctively reached out and grabbed the last saving straw, which regretfully, was the sleeve of Chen Sinan’s black suit.

As she tightly held on to the sleeve for dear life, Chen Sinan’s expression was as cold as ice.

Just as Xin Siyue thought that she was going to fall on her back, the embarrassing event she imagined didn’t happen, because Chen Sinan unexpectedly went forward several steps to hold her waist, saving her before she falls further.

The frightened Xin Siyue was now in his arms. She grasped his right arm tightly while the other hand pulled at his clothes. She breathed heavily in his embrace, and her legs seemed to have lost its strength.

Once again, she experienced a near death experience, and the feeling of helplessness and terror of falling down the stairs was horrifying.

Earlier, Chen Sinan was attending a dinner party, but he ended up coming here. Although he had rolled up his sleeves, the more than 30 degrees weather here made him feel hot and irritable. But at this moment, the slight fruity fragrance from the woman in his arms, along with the cold touch of her fingertips gave him a rare and pleasant sensation.

Chen Sinan frowned. He loosened his arms around her slender waist and legs, straightened up, and said in a cold voice, “Isn’t that enough?”

“Huh?” Xin Siyue looked up at him. Chen Sinan stepped back this time, as if trying to avoid something poisonous. His jaw still ached from their collision earlier.

But when he glanced down at her after losing patience, he suddenly noticed her pair of moist eyes. Her lashes were long and her eyes teary, and underneath the light, those pair of eyes seemed amazingly bright.

It was rare for Chen Sinan to feel surprised.

Xin Siyue blinked while feeling mad that she teared up! If it wasn’t for him, she never would’ve gotten so frightened that she almost fell down the stairs!

But what she didn’t know was that her unconscious act of blinking made the onlooker feel as if she looked pitiful.

Chen Sinan frowned slightly at the idea.

Xin Siyue immediately came to her senses. Knowing that the man hated her, she quickly pulled back her hand that rested on his arm, and without saying a word, left straight towards the auditorium.

She wanted to explain, but reason tells her not to try to explain things to him, lest Chen Sinan misunderstand.

Chen Sinan, who had been standing in place for a time, finally moved and made his way to the auditorium while thinking to himself: ‘After I said so many things to her, all she replied was a simple “um”? Well then, is it really her new goal to avoid me as if I’m a snake?’

While thinking of this, Chen Sinan’s gaze deepened as he stared at her slim figure in the distance.
