I agree, i was looking past the awful translations because it felt unique and interesting... now it's just another of the "I didn't mean to confess to my teacher" type of novel, literally. Both mcs are "evil", both have a cultivation given by the system so they don't have to, both give talent to their maids. It is the exact novel.

Hey, don't give up on the novel just yet. Try reading some chapters and see if it gets you to read more then decide if it's good or not.

I stopped at chapter 45 but maybe I'll try to read what's out as of right now.

Oh right, Mother of Learning is also a great entry point like Lord of the Mysteries. An easy read on its own, and of higher quality than some other fun but not substantial stuff like Legendary Mechanic (author is great at planning, but goes too hard on praising MC), The Tutorial is Too Hard, FFF-Class Trashhero. All of them are quite readable imo, unlike the completely not self-aware Author's POV or Beginning of the End series. Even Solo Leveling is more readable than those 2.

(part 2) Then there's stuff like Throne of Magical Arcana, which is more grounded. Magic there is based on physics equations. I remember it often for giving a great analogy explaining quantum particle-wave duality using the story of the blind men and an elephant. Physicists who had bloody feuds over whether photons are particles or waves are alike to blind men fighting over if an elephant is a bat (touched ears), snake (touched trunk), or wall when the elephant is its own thing. Lastly, Scholar's Advanced Technological System, which heads into math rather than physics. It's exceptionally dry and only interesting to people who studied at least a bit of STEM before.

Heading more into sci fi, I suggest The Three Body Problem and its sequel, Dark Forest Theory. They're not LNs but hard copies you'll have to find a PDF somewhere. Three Body Problem is a slowburn, slow tease for most of it. Maybe you can skip right into Dark Forest Theory, where all the crazy shit happens. Kurzgesagt has a video about it, Obama and the Zuck mentioned it before iirc.

Depends on what your taste is. Want to mention some of your favorites? A great starter is Lord of the Mysteries, with a gripping first chapter pumped full of Bloodborne-like atmosphere, providing a vivid visualization of what it's like to wake up under a blood moon, looking down to see you've committed suicide. The spiritual successor to LotM is Embers Ad Infinitum, from the same author. The MC is not just a clown, he's the whole circus, and I'm all here for it. But sadly it takes some 59 to 69 chapters to really get started. Author demonstrates his great description skills for the fights once again. This is what I'm still reading atm. If I have to mention my all-time favorite LN/WN though, it would be Reverend Insanity. You'll see fanatical devotees paying respects to Reverend everywhere on this website. I'm here to tell you they're right. It's not just a novel. It sticks with you for months and years and changes the way you think the way reading Game of Thrones would.
