Summary

Jiang Xiaoman was bound to a system when she was three years old. The system told her that she was the lost daughter of a wealthy family assigned to play the cannon fodder in this script. The fake daughter that her parents adopted was the heroine of the story.

Jiang Xiaoman blinked her eyes and asked, “What is a cannon fodder?”

System: “You all live in a book, and everyone is assigned their role. From now on, you should keep on blackening and be a bad child. Do you see that little boy? He has a bigger role than you, in the future, he will become the big bad villain. Why don’t you bully him now, and show him up real good!”

The naïve Jiang Xiaoman picked a handful of colorful flowers and stuffed them into his hands. “I’m showing you something really good!”

System: “…”

Darling, you got it all wrong! Not showing him something good that way!

The little boy: “I don’t need friends, I don’t need company. I’m just a burden that no one wants. It’s my destiny to be abandoned.”

Jiang Xiaoman: “That’s wrong. Everyone’s existences have meaning. System said you are especially important, even more important than me. You’ll be a really really useful person in the future!”

System: “…??”

Did it say that??

Later on, the system stopped giving Jiang Xiaoman any tasks. Jiang Xiaoman was very sorry and said, “Mr. System, why won’t you play with me anymore?”

System: “… just try to grow up first and learn to understand every word! You’re killing me!!”

Jiang Xiaoman worked hard to blacken (not really) under the system’s supervision until she was reunited with her wealthy parents. She scratched her little head and asked, “Mr. System, what about the task? Didn’t you say that we should fight over the family’s wealth?”

System: “What kind of wealth do you still want to fight over? You already have more money than your wealthy parents!”

Unlike others I didn't find it cute or funny. I am not reading it just for the sake of it. I know that the protag is just a 4yo kid but why so much crying? Protag's guardians are friggin uncivilized, POS brutes, beating her at any chance they get instead of explaining things properly to the child. I have been beaten worse by my parents and teachers for the smallest of things and hence I don't agree with the notion of they are beating because they love you BS. The "system" is gimped and incompetent. I know it is supposed to be from a child's POV but I think the author is dismissing mental illnesses like some common cold. So I have read 100+ chapter in hopes that it would get better but sadly it doesn't. Anyway that's my opinion. YMMV

It seems you aren't super knowledgeable about the culture and socioeconomic conditions of rural China. Beating their kids to punish them is considered common practice and acceptable, education is questionable at best, people grow rough because of the harsh conditions where there isn't even running water or electricity in most cases, and the family dynamic is significantly more strict and old-fashioned than in the west. They have a different set of values and customs that don't necessarily line up with your own, and to condemn a way of life that is alien to you because it isn't how you think it should be is pretty judgmental and narrow minded. *takes off Redditor hat*

Being someone from a middle class family from India, I've have had more than my fair share of beatings and other forms of corporal punishments at home and at school while growing up. However something being common practice doesn't mean it is correct. Discipline aside, it shows the narcissistic behavior of the adults in the story that hit the kid when their own mistakes are pointed out. I had an issue with the story, which I didn't like and found it not small enough to just ignore. I expressed my dissatisfaction in the review. Dropped the story.

I really like the rhythm of the novel, it is good for a relaxing reading although I have a problem with this type of novel and that is that it got so much into the children's characters and especially if it is MC then I cry if they cry QwQ And yes, I'm using Google Translate
