Wherever he goes, Zhou Chao was a ticking time bomb.

Not only was he an unorthodox man, he was overly-optimistic and always wanted to do the type of jobs that were above his abilities with the illusion that he’ll one day become a man among men. In short, Zhou Chao was responsible for a problem that cropped up in the project which caused huge losses to the project. Naturally, the company’s CEO Huo Qidong came forward to negotiate and resolve the compensation issues he faced.

Zhou Chao made a lot of low-level mistakes at work, but there were members from the same group who helped him correct those mistakes. Still, he wasn’t doing so hot. People can’t always be there to help him, and with how large the profit margins were in this project, he was greedy and insisted on being a standout, resulting in this embarrassing situation.

He was as greedy as a snake that wanted to swallow an elephant!!!

And Huo Qidong’s patience with Zhou Chao also reached its limit.

The elders in the family weren’t wrong, the matter of interests are always going to be brought up in families such as theirs, even marriage should be a calculation made in the field of business. Even if he did the calculations, he still overestimated his ability to be alone. It’s not enough that he married a woman that didn’t bring him any benefits or even a hot meal when he got home, but he even had to clean up the mess for his wife’s useless relatives and wipe his ass for her.

Huo Qidong did have the title of being a “philanthropist”, but that didn’t mean he was in the money-losing business. Doing charity is just to throw a bunch of money to buy a good reputation so that wasn’t a loss. As for Zhou Chao, Huo Qidong feels that he had already invested in him and should stop now after losing all his money so he can avoid any future losses.

So, it didn’t take long for Huo Qidong to take advantage of this mistake and fired him directly. Zhou Xue’s face was worth nothing to Huo Qidong.

After he was fired, Zhou Chao went to Zhou Xue and asked her to help him put in a word or two.

This was headache-inducing. She did all she could to help but while she was struggling to keep things afloat, she was still being dragged underwater. In the end, they were nothing more than cousins. While Zhou Xue herself was treading in dangerous waters, Huo Qidong was growing more and more impatient with her. All she could do was cause less trouble so she could preserve herself in peace and quiet. As for him, she just dismissed him apathetically.

Inside, she believed that Yan Cheng was already being kept watch on by Chen Jinyao.

She still believed that Yan Cheng was completely smitten by her, so she said to Zhou Chao, “You made such a great loss to the company this time. If your brother-in-law keeps you around, how do you expect him to keep your credibility? Why don’t you go and ask Yan Cheng instead and see if he can help you?”

“I fell out with him last time.” Zhou Xiao frowned and told her things as it is. “He definitely knows I was the one that got him to the police station.”

When that was mentioned, the pleasure in Zhou Xue’s eyes grew deeper. He finally found a temper after not seeing him for so long. “But he didn’t give you trouble, right?”

Just like a certain song sang, those who are loved never have to fear when you have something to fall back on.

Zhou Chao froze. That did make sense.

Shameless people were invincible in this world.

Looking for help from someone you had an unpleasant experience with, as long as you were good enough at playing dumb and forgetting that unpleasantness, then Zhou Chao’s shamelessness was completely beyond imagination.
