When Lu Lixing’s face appeared on the phone screen, Ji Qingqing turned her hand and her phone landed flat on the bed with the screen facing down.

The night was already dark and windy. What is he doing by staying up and video calling her?

Just then, “-zila” sounds of paws scratching against the door from outside could be heard. It was immediately followed by barking sounds that became more distant.

Lu Lixing regained his composure. “Nothing much. I just wanted to tell you that Si Si is adjusting well to the environment here and Aunt Pei likes Si Si a lot.”

“It’s great that Aunt Pei likes Si Si. It’s too late now. But if there’s a day that you aren’t busy, send me some videos of Si Si.”

“How’s Grandpa’s health?”

“Pretty good.”

“And Aunt Pei’s?”

“Aunt Pei’s health is also pretty good.”

Ji Qingqing nodded.

The two of them remained silent simultaneously and the atmosphere became rather awkward for a moment.

“Is there anything else?”

Lu Lixing pondered for a bit and asked, “When are you done with the filming?”

“It’s still early into the filming. It will probably take a month and a half if everything goes well, but if the progress gets delayed, then maybe 2-3 months.”

“Two-three months… this long?”

“You were rushing to leave today. Did something happen at the company?”

Lu Lixing nodded. “One of the projects had some issues, so I rushed back.”

“Issues? Are they serious?”

The project will affect the future development direction of the company. Of course, it was serious. Someone will try to stir up the Board of Directors and some big shareholders will form alliances to exert pressure hoping to change the company’s operations. These people came prepared and Lu Lixing was placed in a tight position.

But he didn’t intend to inform Ji Qingqing about any of this.

Ji Qingqing recalled that Lu Lixing’s flight was at 2 pm. Since there were some problems with the company, he probably headed there directly to handle those matters. Given his workaholic attitude, he would have just gotten back home to rest. It will be 11 pm soon. Why was he still not asleep with all the travel fatigue and the exhaustion from his continuous workload?

“Are you still doing your work now?”

“Then did I distract you from working?”

“No, I needed some rest anyway.”

“How was your filming today?”

“It was ok. It went on pretty smoothly. We filmed another scene after you left and we only refilmed it twice.” Once Ji Qingqing mentioned this, her face beamed with joy. She added, “Did you know that Director Zhou complimented me today? He said that I have the potential and the talent to act. So long as I put in the effort, I can definitely act in a movie as the sole main lead someday.”

“Really? Are you sure that Director Zhou didn’t say it to flatter you?’

“Why would he flatter me? Director Zhou is not someone who would care about how others feel. He even yelled at Sister Jingyun when she made a mistake.”

“True. He wouldn’t praise you for no reason if you had no talent. Not bad. Keep it up.”

Ji Qingqing laughed. Suddenly she thought of something and looked at Lu Lixing with a secretive look on her face. Inching closer to the screen she whispered, “Did you know? I learned a big scoop about Sister Jingyun today!

Lu Lixing raised his eyebrows. “What big scoop?”

“Sister Jingyun has a boyfriend! I accidentally saw her message today…” Ji Qingqing immediately explained, “But don’t get me wrong. I just happened to see it by accident. I was studying my script and a text message popped out on her screen and I saw it.”
