Overlord (Light Novel)

Quite a unique and enjoyable story. Unique because normally, in these kinds of settings, the reader follows the story of a group of heroes or "good guys" adventuring, finding new comrades, getting stronger together, and vanquishing evil. Here it's the complete opposite. The further into the story you go, the more clear it gets that you are, in fact, following the villains. Going around taking advantage of people, increasing their power through any means, committing unspeakable atrocities for the goal of world domination. The enjoyable parts of this story are mostly nothing novel. It's a fantasy setting with Isekai elements, game mechanics, etc. It heavily relies on misunderstandings made from lack of direct communication between the protagonist and the other characters. Their misconceptions of him and convenient coincidences. It's an OP heavy(overpowered protagonist and such) story with a dark undertone since the protagonist is a neutral evil character. It has a thin balance between exciting action and complicated yet interesting world politics. Aside from those, the world building is pretty amazing, and some might even call it excessive, but those who enjoy rich and thoughtful fantasy worlds will certainly like it. The reason I've given it 4/5 even after all the praise is because of the problems with how it's written. It's a Japanese LN so long chapters are overdue and I personally have no qualms with that but there are a lot of repetitive or just unnecessary parts and information in it that you either have read multiple times already or you just can't see any reason behind it so sometimes it can get tiresome or frustrating and you'll find yourself skipping some of them. Aside from that, my most important reason for not giving a 5 is the 15th volume, in other words, the latest. It's a far cry of what I expected it to be and quite lackluster in my personal opinion, especially compared to the previous 2 volumes and their exciting high notes. Overall, I highly recommend it for those who enjoy detailed fantasy worlds with a dark side hidden behind its veil of sunnyness full of misunderstandings and an evil protagonist leading and even more evil organization.

Absolutely incredible, from the world building to the characters. Everything is superb. Its not a lie when I saw Overlord is one of my favourite series of all time, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with legends such as Berserk, Lord Of The Mysteries and Shadow Slave. (btw mare is best girl and pandoras actor is best boy)

overlord is scheme and plot and straight up idiocy is quite good blend that promised to continue for 10 thousand year. and great read to I read it like 3 times now

Overlord, where do I even start it's an amazing Anime, Manga and Light Novel, Our protagonist is Cold and cunning, he will do anything for his own people and his own Goal, the World building is top tier I've never seen better than Overlord, the characters are also very interesting and fun. If you want a kind and caring MC this is not for you it's dark and cold shows you the evil side of the human brain. Oh and it's quite slow at times.

The best light novel ever made. It should be called novel, not "light"-novel. The expositions are great, tge characters are well developed and the world is really built well

Masterpiece to be short. MC, side character, world-building, everything described to the finest detail. The interaction among te side character make you at last love them all. Even if you fall in love with one of them and seems like they will be protected by a “plot-armor”, well, don’t cry too much since he/she has the possibility to die anyway. Ainz’s naivety as well as the seriousness/misunderstanding of his subordinates are also factors that keep you reading this masterpiece. Some things make you worried as well as sadden such as: what happened to ARCHE EEB RILE FURT‘s sisters since she died in the siege of Nazarik? And such. I really recommend to read this Novel to everyone.

A masterpiece, if there is only one problem its the elf arc (6th i believe). Not only it is boring but also only the last chapter actually had something going on.

A masterpiece thru and thru! Definitely recommend! The world building is absolutely crazy on this one, sometimes a bit too descriptive at times but that's just how it is, i mean. . . it's Overlord, notoriously known for being a very detailed story and the characters are all written excellently, an absolute 5/5 from me for sure ^^

This is an amazing novel in every aspect. Be careful the MC won't go around saving people, He only cares about himself and his faction, The world, The interactions and the planning are all amazing, If you came from the Anime/Manga I'd advise you to simply read it all again, But if you aren't interested then just skip until you reach the Holy Kingdom Arc and read from there, Tho, You'll miss a lot. It's totally worth it.

While browsing through ranks, I found this treasure that I have already forgotten. Aaah as I can remember this is one of the novels I have read those years and I bc im busy(lazy) asf I've neglected it.
