    > And then suddenly finishes and everything goes back to normal. So, after taking breaks and reading around and coming back, holy sh*t does the nationalism not go back to normal lol. I made it to chapter 1250 before realizing I was just skimming chapters to get to the good parts and not really enjoying the story anymore.

Lol, nice timing. I mean, I mainly read completed stories so I can enjoy both the journey and the destination. If you don't mind dipping out when things get rough, it might be worth continuing, but it's basically a completely different story after chapter 900. If you already aren't having fun, it might be worth just giving up on it.

Man, I've been enjoying this, and mostly just brushing off the standard nationalism. But boy, from chaps 900-1000, it's like the author slowly starts jerking off while saluting the flag lol. And then suddenly finishes and everything goes back to normal. Just regular China #1 stuff, with the story chugging forward.

It's because of the first half of the chap. Imagine having your love life being intrude upon by outsiders, mere strangers, behind your back for the sake of roping the nobel-level genius. And the occasional homophobic remark you see, like it's disgusting for them to see someone be interested in the same gender. That part really disgusts me. It's like they're proposing an important business proposal but it's actually just them trying to tie down the mc to the country. I skipped that part after reading it for a while.

Yeah, that makes sense. For what it's worth, the situation you mentioned doesn't really show up again, at least not to the targeted degree that's seen there. There's a mixer event aimed at single professors much later, but it's basically just a company retreat. But yeah, if the culture is actually like that, it makes being single seem like a nightmare, when I'm pretty sure the intention is to have it play as a joke. Different worlds I guess. The MC continues to dodge romance like it's his job though, so don't worry about him being entangled by matchmakers. Or anyone really lol.

ohh then ig it's still alright to continue. I've been seeing a lot of comments it'll get really bad in the later chaps so I'm hesitating to continue. thanks a lot though for replying to my comments!

Maybe? I'm only at chapter 1100, but it seems like the romantic subplot has basically settled a direction. I haven't noticed the romantic harassment getting worse, but I've certainly gotten more tired of it just from the repetition. At least, every single time he speaks to his family you know there's going to be some needling about when he's going to get a girlfriend. So it could get worse in the future, but he finally knows his own feelings, so it's not quite as annoying. Really, the main annoyance I've had is the nationalism, since it gets a little silly with some of the antagonist setups from 900-1000, before suddenly going back to normal.

Read this on a whim. Just trying to see if it will actually interest me, and for sure it does. Aside from all the obvious problems that this comment section already pointed out multiple times, I kind of like the flow and story. Although you can't really see my comment as a "go" for reading this since I'm only 390+ chaps. Reading this novel is fun but it also makes me dumb. 100% STEM related topics, mostly analytical. I'm dumb, I don't get it. I read it, I don't get it. So I just do a quick read or skip it. Also, I'm getting fed up to all the women who's trying to flirt with him. I'm not really cut out to this kind of novels that has romance. I mean it's alright, I understand you can develop such feelings, but It's quite annoying sometimes that I wonder when will the mc get a gf fr. What I unexpectedly missed looking at this novel is that, I DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULD BE MORE THAN A THOUSAND CHAPTERS. If I'm getting tired rn when I'm not even half done, I don't know if I can even finish this.

Eh, just assume that the MC is basically defending his virginity like it's the source of his science powers, and then get annoyed as everyone harasses him about getting into a relationship. It's frustrating, but mostly because the author keeps dragging it into the story over and over. The amount of math jargon slows down too, though it still remains pretty STEM heavy, but it's more dedicated sci-fi than 'welcome to MATH 301' lol,

If you can ignore the strong nationalism, it's pretty good. Honestly, surprisingly really entertaining, all of it seems like it could happen, except the alien stuff of course

I can understand the racism since this novel is full of nationalism about china good other countries bad. But I have read till 350 chapters and i have not found any homophobic comments nor does he looks down on girls. Hell ,he has even taken a girl as his student for her masters degree and he even helps her so much like financially and even helps overcome her fear of public speaking.

Honestly aside from a-bit of patriotism during the space race arc there wasn't really anything bad compared to other novels. Lu zhou is a nice guy and at the end every country comes together to for a human federation, not to mention his interaction with other nationalities.

Well that is true I suppose if compared to other novels with that slides in patriotism in it as well and the mc is of decent char too, I suppose it's just the way it was portrayed at first lel

He puts a villain in the story. It doesn't mean he's racist. I've read novels where china is the villain and does all sorts of atrocities and I don't see people spamming racist in the comments. Not everything is racist if another country is in a bad light. Most novels on this site have some sort of 'evil' faction

While I agree there are some novels out there that does this, it's only a few. And this novel is already pretty good as I say since it's subtle and can be ignored. Compared to some that went truly overboard. And the Dao of nationalism doesn't stand only for Chinese novels y'know. I'm also talking about the other novels that portrays other country in a bad light while praising their own motherland to the heavens.

They built the hype for an evil faction which happens to be usa. 'Not everything is racist if another country is in a bad light.' Yes it is, depending on who is painting another country in a bad light. Also if one really wants to make an evil faction why not make one inside another nation and not using the whole nation as an 'evil' faction. 'I've read novels where china is the villain and does all sorts of atrocities and i don't see people spamming racist in the comments.' How many sites have you gone to and read the novels? Did you only use this site to read them? How can you be so sure the other sites won't call out on the racism? Did you also check either the author of the works that makes china the villain is a chinese or not? This site isn't the only place to read novel. The comments in this site is not as much as the others out there, go to novelupdates then you'll know what a review truly is and you judge yourself.

'Not everything is racist if...' "yes it is, depending on who..." I'll stop you right there. Look at the definition of racism. Racism definition: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized. 1. They give a reason(USA trying to prevent MC from advancing China's science) for the MC to dislike America. 2. USA isn't a racial or ethnic group. It's a country. MC is against the government. Not the people. American is an ethnic group, but thats not what author is talking about 3.MC is a dick. Not racist. Can't be racist if you treat everyone the same. I don't like the way you did your racism argument. But for your argument on how other sites might comment and whatnot. You win that argument. I don't go on other sites often.

I do apologize for being quite rude but I guess I just got overheated about the propaganda patriotism crap since lots of novel got shat on due to it. Also the part about being a dick, yeah I totally agree bout that too lmao.. So...we cool?

        Reply
      • Harehareya

Huh...that actually make sense. Yeah I suppose you're right about the usa being portrayed in evil light ain't being racist since they're a country not an ethnicity. Yeah you won that one. I guess I didn't use the right words then, uh...what do you call another countrymen demeaning another country? Is there a word for that? I suppose what I am trying to say is the propaganda in this work like demeaning other country while lifting theirs in a pedestal is subtler than the other works where they do blatant disrespect to other I suppose. Like that one novel where the chinese are actually aliens that came to the world during the early days, saw the savages in the world(first humans) then left some Chinese people to 'educate' them and to spread their good seeds around the world to create a better human race.
