not sure why the review score is so low. I am at chapter 500 and I find this one to be joy to read. Not sure if it's English original or a translation but writing does not detract from the story telling. It's pretty straight forward world turned into game scenario but I've read much worse. So far, very enjoyable. Hopefully this continues. . .

The longer and longer I read the more unstandible it gets. The author tried to give lore, then ruined the whole system with some stiff. It's disappointing because it was pretty strong.

First of all, the battles are filler, you can skip 2-3 chapters of battles and you won't missed anything. Second, the conversation is what you're expecting from newbie writer writing his first novel. Not much depth, just a casual storytelling of 5th grade. Third, the development is boringly slow for a world of VR games. MC's kinda wishy-washy and other characters are embodiment of wuxia novel where moral high ground is a double standar. I feel losing my brain cell after binge read this novel for 80 chapters.

Honestly, it's completely horrible. The only reason I'm giving it two instead of 1 star is that the gaming system and mechanics seemed kinda cool. The conversations and intelligence of every character are retarded. It's like the author has never had a conversation with anyone and then chose to write a novel, or maybe its the translation. Since this novel has a deceivingly high rating, I thought I had to leave this review.

The novel has stupid development. The main character has inconsistent intelligence and inconsistent personality. One moment he would be a Sherlock Holmes investigating crime scenes and the other makes stupid decisions weird proceedings in every negotiating table. One moment he is assertive and dominant about his ideals and the other moment he revokes them on the fly and just chickens out in standoffs. His intelligence is over a thousand but still only getting overpriced prices in all of his haggling against NPC's. It's like reading "1+1=2 oh no 3 no 2. "

This novel reminds me of a LITRPG novel, in a good way. The translation is generally good, but it gets spotty at times where the bending of words don't make sense, but the sentence structure stays solid. By no means a deal-breaker. The story somehow dances the line of cliche very finely, leaving you immersed and entertained but not challenged. Overall, 4/5.

"Second World" is a novel that follows the story of Jack, a young man who, after encountering a mysterious device, finds himself trapped in a virtual reality game world. In this new world, Jack must use his wits and strength to survive and find a way back to the real world. One of the strengths of this novel is its immersive and well-crafted world-building. The author has created a detailed and intricate game world, filled with interesting characters, quests, and challenges that keep the reader engaged. The story also has a good balance of action and character development, making the reader invested in Jack's journey. The character development of Jack is another standout feature of the novel. He starts off as a somewhat naïve and inexperienced character, but as the story progresses, he grows in strength, maturity, and strategic thinking. His interactions with the other characters in the game world are also well-crafted and believable, making the relationships between them feel natural and engaging. The writing style of this novel is also a strength. The author's vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue help to bring the game world and characters to life, making the reader feel like they're a part of the story. Overall, "Second World" is a 5-star novel because of its well-crafted world-building, engaging protagonist, and skilled writing. It's a must-read for fans of virtual reality, gaming, and action-adventure stories.
