Idk about you but I find that the more flawed a character is at the beginning of a story, the more satisfying the payoff of seeing their character development is going to be. Not going spoil anything but there are multiple moments that showcases his growth of character and mindset in a way that one can't help but go "that's my boy!"

also another note to add about the part where sunny thinks that "the world owes him", i don't remember exactly who but he was also told off about that kinda mindset by other characters as well, but hes like that cuz of his upbringing, he had barely anything as a child and even then that something was taken from him, and now that he finally has a chance to improve his life, he is put into one of the worst situation ever, basically he's been suffering for so long, that he feels like their should be a payment for his suffering that's basically why he's like that, i'd suggest reading a reincarnation novel if this type of novel doesn't suit you, most reincarnation/regression novels usually have an adult and mature/levelheaded mc, sunny is just literally a kid so ye

I mean Neph has been literally the only person Sunny has shown any romantic inclination towards to begin with. I wouldn't say that either of them are aware of their mutual attraction for each other yet but there have been quite a few moments between them that confirms said attraction at least. Deniers will pretend not to see it and dismiss them but then you might as well headcanon Sunny as an asexual because so far he doesn't have interactions of this kind with anyone aside from Nephis.

Although, Neph has been actively trying to avoid ordering him around, that Shadow Bond is still like a guillotine over his head. Many things have changed since then, but Sunny still leans towards defiance. Anyway, I'm not saying that it's impossible, but it's gonna take a lot of work for them to cross over into a romantic relationship. They also tend to avoid talking about the difficult stuff until one of them(most likely Sunless) explodes and starts an argument 😅. The only bright side is that they really do care for each other.

i really like how they showed sunny's complicated feelings towards neph in the novel tbh, one moment sunny is talking about how much fun he is having seeing her and just being with her, and the next he's wishing for her death to be free from his fate, he hates her so much that he would prefer for her to die, but if anything life threatening does happen to her he will also do his best to save her, it's so contradictory and its really fun to read through, but rn i personally don't think he loves her, but admires her to an extent that borders on obsession

I don't think he's in love rn, but he's getting there. I mean, our little shadow cockroach called her cute a few dozen chapters ago. That's gotta count for something, right? Still, I think he's gonna have a relationship with someone else before he has one with Nephis. Why? Well I read on web novel a comment of the author and he hinted at Sunny maybe being in multiple relationships and it would just fit really well in his Charakter arc of slowly understanding his feelings and what he wants
