Sword God in a World of Magic

This was a rollercoaster ride that saved me from depression. The world of Sword God is beautifuly written, which puts all other books and stories i've read to shame.

Pretty solid book, can be violent at times, but it’s solid. Was kind of a short read, and I hope that it gets continued in the future but it’s Alr, decent world building, the author portrays changes in mentality really well.

This novel is peak. The first 200-300 chapters are good, but they only have a few great moments. To be honest, I was sleeping through it for a while, reading just to read. However, if you just keep on reading, the novel just slowly gets more and more enrapturing. Shang is a cruel b*st*rd and I don't like him, but I'll be damned if he isn't an amazing character. The character development he goes through in the entirety of this novel is slow, but outstanding. Those pivotal moments scattered throughout every arc had me on the edge of my seat constantly. My only regret is that I didn't read the author's other novel before this, so if you're looking through reviews wondering whether to start this or not, make sure to read Lightning Is The Only Way first. I can't come up with any reason to give this novel anything under a big 5 stars. It d*mn well deserves it.

Sh*t is good. Very goal oriented protagonist if you are a fan of power of friendship, romance and such then you will not like this novel. Protagonist also expieriences many setback so if you want a smooth sailing it is not for you. For those who like to see some real struggle for power, and are tired of romance this novel will be great.

If you’re planning on starting I do recommend, it is quite an enjoyable read and I hate and love the mc at the same time and I think you will too lmao😂

Great novel, and it incorporates to the authors previous work in an interesting way, along with deep insights into the psychology of having the entire world against you as you compete for the limited resources in said world. I hope to see another novel by him soon!

This novel remains one of my favorite novels ever. What I love about it: The MC is deranged and focused solely on power, and has inner conflict. This is super interesting and creates great character interactions and depth. I also really like the power system. I think it's super fun and easy to follow, as well as being relatively unique. The fights are really well written, the worldbuilding is pretty good, and the twists at the end are very satisfying. What I didn't like as much: There's not a lot to write here, as I really loved most of it. I do think the pacing was a bit off at the end, but the author themself said it was a bit rushed so it's excusable. In the end, because of the MC's personality, there wasn't much connection to characters beyond the connections he makes in the very beginning. I think killing Gerald was one of the most impactful event and afterwards there isn't a connection that is as meaningful. Fortunately, the power scaling becomes very interesting after that point. Overall, this novel remains a 10/10 for me. Despite not being perfect, it is the best of the best and I will love rereading it in a few years.

Not sure if it would be much of a spoiler but the ending is a setup for a MUCH bigger plot from what I can see. And HOLY SMOKES! It just gives such perfect vibes every time Shang advances through the realms. Overall the novel is very well written and has one of the best character developments out there. I just finished it and i , PERSONALLY, think this is the best novel i have ever read. It has such great world building and interesting characters that you feel like its opening up a whole new way of introducing what a book can be. I also loved how the author didn't spend half of the book describing how attractive, rich or talented someone is. You only get to see the reality of things without being bombarded with irrelevant info. The characters are awfully realistic and complex for a fantasy novel. THE MC is very unusual and , dare i say, original. He faces challenges and reacts to them with a reasonable amount of level-headedness. ALSO the book does have some plot armour(very minor) but i honestly think he deserves them after all he's went through. But still i'd have to admit the last 100 chapters were quite fast paced compared to the whole book in general. Thats to be expected though, because the book doesnt span just a few hundred years. No romance tho T_T

Typical isekia world and and a mc who wants to become stronger for many reasons. The author takea on a dark setting and every choice the mc takes has consequences and loved how realistic the reaction of mc was towards killing. In his journey to power he gradually becomes cold blooded and a twisted mindset that power is everything yet he doesn't even remember why he chased power. One of the best character developments I have ever seen in my 3 years experience of reading novels. Also there are many times when the mc regrets and becomes emotionally unstable but it changes after ch 551.
