He starts being treated like an adult around chapter 150. Caught up he is around 13 years old but is for all intents and purposes around 20 physically (novel shenanigans)

If you think about it, his power is easily explainable, after all he was a genius magician of any subject even before he became the first dark mage who fought alone for dozens of years with iron will against near omnipotent beings and they still could not kill him. Other then that, he usually crushed everybody with sheer power (+ the quality of magicans and warriors lessened) and was not usually matched, the only times he really had lost in power was against the demon but Beryl saved him who was expected to be around really so that is not a surprise, and the other time was against Zenith's Sword, where few people died and the guy got weakened because he was underestimating them. And he got transported not killed because of his grandmother's sacrafice. I would say, if he had any other setbacks until now then that would be odd considering who the MC is.
