The End Of The World’s Poisonous Mom And Monster Baby
Volume 2 Chapter 2: Some people just love courting disasters

The two superhumans looked at each other silently. They couldn’t do it. Even if they were to bring out all the earth elemental users there, they still wouldn’t be able to do it.

“Is it logical to just move one car at a time? After using up all your energy sending one car over you guys will rest up for a half a day and then send the second car over?” Shao Qing calmly said.

After a long silence, Yan Pingsheng spoke out to ask Shao Qing: “Then do you have another idea?”

Shao Qing shook her head: “Besides detouring, building a bridge is the only option.”

“Then isn’t this all rubbish? If building a bridge is the only option and they do not have the ability to support all the cars crossing over, then it’s still a dead end.” Yan Pingsheng spoke in a frustrated manner.

Shao Qing didn’t say anything, only looking towards the endless cracks. Then she suddenly asked: “if we were to detour, how big of a loss would it be?”

Meng Shen honestly replied: “Only about a third of us will survive; we would be incapable of making it to Jiang Bei’s survivor base and this is only a rough estimate not including other unexpected situations.”

Shao Qing had a moment of hesitation, then she called Gu Chuan over: “Place an ice bridge here. It doesn’t need to be too thick, just enough to cross over the cracks will be fine. About two metres wide and thick enough to support a fully loaded car.”

Gu Chuan silently extended his arm out. The mist rapidly gathered together to form an ice bridge over the cracks. Shao Qing tested out the thickness: “Try it again.”

Yan Pingsheng called over the car to go again. After passing over the crack and coming back, there were no signs of the ice bridge cracking.

Yan Pingshengs eyes lit up. After the two earth elementals created the bridge, their faces had paled significantly; yet, Gu Chuan looked completely indifferent. The difference between the two sides were evident.

“Will you be able to last covering up all the cracks?” Yan Pingsheng couldn’t hold back asking. Gu Chuan shook his head. If he was a rank four ice elemental user then he would definitely have enough power. But currently, he’s just a rank 3 superhuman who had just increased in rank.

Yan Pingsheng was a bit disappointed, but Shao Qing ignored him. She just continued to ask Gu Chuan, “Could you make it two-thirds of the way?”

Gu Chuan nodded his head. He would have to push himself a bit but he could manage to reach that point. It will just simply be more exhausting.

“That’s perfect.” Shao Qing nodded her head then said to Yan Pingsheng: “The duty of making the bridge can be left to Gu Chuan and I. You guys can just prepare to cross the bridge.”

“But….” Yan Pingsheng couldnt resist asking. Would Gu Chuan be able to last? At that moment, he realized that Gu Chuan had already created another ice bridge. While Gu Chuan did this, the two earth elemental users did not just sit idly. Shao Qing got them to form a weak bridge then got Gu Chuan to freeze it and make it a bit thicker. This way it would save his power usage.

Seeing Gu Chuan and the rest already taking action, Yan Pingsheng also started to direct the people back to the car. Then they began to systematically cross over one by one.

Shao Qing and Gu Chuan were at the very front. With every bridge created, Shao Qing would first press on it to test it out then would they proceed.

After laying out around fifty metres, they had already exchanged out all the earth elemental users. Their superpowers were completely exhausted. Gu Chuan could only rely on himself to form the entire bridge.

Now people could see the strength of a rank 3 superhuman. Besides his face paling a bit, one could not notice any signs of overexertion.

“Can you still push it?” Shao Qing was testing the bridges and could evidently see that the current bridges were slightly thinner. This wasn’t Gu Chuan being lazy. It was just the fact that his powers were slowly depleting. The will is there but not the strength.

“I can still push it to the spot you mentioned earlier.” Gu Chuan calmly spoke, but his forehead was already covered in small beads of cold sweat.

“When you’ve reached your limit let me know. Don’t force it.” Shao Qing patted his shoulder then looked ahead. There were still about 80 metres before they would be past these crevices.

Gu Chuan nodded his head, yet he continued to push himself until he used up all his powers. Finally he sat his bum to the ground and stopped. When he did that, Yan Pingsheng immediately yelled out, “Gu Chuan can’t continue. If we wait for him to recover, the ice bridge would have already all melted and the entire team would have fallen down the cracks.”

Not waiting for Yan Pingsheng’s inquiry, Shao Qing just supported Gu Chuan up and then extended out her right hand. Countless number of vines immediately sprang forward.

Those vines were especially nimble. In midair, they had already weaved into a carpet like structure. Then everyone saw a sight that made their jaws drop. The vines had formed a blanket with the two ends extending out numerous tentacles that stabbed down to the ground like chopsticks stabbing into tofu. After tying everything together, a green bridge was left in plain sight.

Everyone was astonished, but even more were unwilling to believe. Could vines support such a heavy thing like car? Especially the middle cars that were packed with items?

Shao Qing had already supported Gu Chuan and was continuing forward. Gritting his teeth, Yan Pingsheng ordered: “Continue forward!” No matter what they couldn’t stop halfway.

The driver trembling with fear continued forward. Against their expectations, those vines held on. Continuing forward as if they were walking on solid ground. It was only the dip in the tires that reminded them that underneath them were soft vines.

Once Shao Qing crossed over all the cracks and turned around, she could see the reflection of the sun from the ice and layers of bright green. Letting out a breath, she supported Gu Chuan to the side to sit.

If there was another option, Shao Qing definitely wouldn’t have allowed Gu Chuan to take action. First of all, this would be unbearably exhausting. Secondly this would reveal their strengths. The biggest taboo is revealing all your strengths. Shao Qing was most worried about this point.

However, compared to the loss of so many personnel and the unpredictable events, revealing a bit of their strengths could not be considered much.

After all the cars have finally passed the cracks, Shao Qing gently waved her hands and the vines converted into wood energy and returned back into her body.

This was one of the biggest differences between her and other superhumans. Once the others have used their superpowers, it would just disappear. However with hers, she could take it back.

Although over the course of events it was unavoidable for her to consume some of her energy, in comparison to others, she consumed a lot less. This little bit of gap during life and death situations could possibly save her life.

Yan Pingsheng felt complex. Even though Meng Shen and him had tried to persuade Shao Qing by mentioning they were interested in them because they noticed their talent and strength; in reality, Yan Pingsheng had no interest in that aspect at all.

After all, since seeing the top superhumans, his way of looking at things became a lot higher. In his eyes, Shao Qing and her small squad were at most stronger than the average superhuman squads by a little.

Now the facts have slapped him in the face. Gu Chuan had revealed his strength to be around rank 3, then what about Shao Qing the captain?

And what about the rest of her team members?

He seemed to have underestimated this exotically named mini superhuman squad.

Shao Qing didn’t say anything else. Supporting Gu Chuan back to the car, once they arrived, Shao Qing allowed Gu Chuan to sit at the back and absorb some crystals to recover. Carrying Xiao Baozi, she sat in the front passenger seat and proceeded to study the route.

The route had already been studied by Yan Pingsheng, so the route they chose was the one with the least danger, least distance, and was the most flat. However Shao Qing was cautious. Right now she couldn’t just eat her own fill, she has an entire family to take care of. She had a family to feed and was bringing along her own comrades; thus, she had to maintain the highest amount of vigilance.

Using this time as an example, they already took the most dependable route. Yet, something unexpected had occurred. Shao Qing took the map to delicately study it to ensure that if there was another accident, she would be able to quickly pinpoint a second way out. Then she wouldn’t feel helpless in the face of a crisis.

Once it was time to stop to eat, everyone’s attitude towards Shao Qing and the rest was a lot better. After all, a strong person would always gain more respect.

After eating their meal, there was nothing they could really do. Travelling at night wouldn’t be suitable but it was too early to sleep. Thus, at this time everyone gathered together to talk or play cards – just having a good bonding time.

Gu Chuan and a few others were playing ‘Fight the landlord’ game. Shao Qing didn’t participate in the mingling. Carrying Xiao Baozi, she simply chatted with Yan Ruru with Er Dai sticking to her as before.

Ever since that incident, Er Dai was especially attached to her. Even if there was nothing, he would like to foolishly sit beside her and stare at her.

Yan Ruru’s family also had a child but the situation was different from Shao Qing’s . Her husband loved her and was an ordinary person. Unfit to come out for missions, her family arrangement was to have the husband take care of the child while she went out to make a living.

Between two moms, there were a lot of things to discuss; in particular the aspect of raising a child, even though their conversation was like a chicken speaking with a duck.

For example, Yan Ruru liked to talk about how much her baby ate, how fat they were becoming, or how since he doesn’t want to sleep every time she returned home they would bother her and insist she read a story to them.

On the other hand, Shao Qing liked talking about how big of an appetite Xiao Baozi had, his appetite for crystals that is. However, he doesn’t grow fatter or taller. He also didn’t like to sleep but wouldn’t make a ruckus. Every night he would just wrap himself around Shao Qing and sleep.

Yan Ruru immediately began to praise how obedient Xiao Baozi was. Shao Qing sighed. If Xiao Baozi continued to not grow, she was going to feel even more worried.

The relatively close Gu Panpan who was figuring out what to do with her three cards, hearing the two of them speak wanted to smile. This was because what they were speaking about was very similar but ultimately completely different.

If Yan Ruru figured out what Shao Qing really meant, then she would probably be shocked to death.

What kind of normal child would eat crystals and not be able to grow.

While Shao Qing and Yan Ruru were happily talking, Meng Shen was suddenly pushed by Yan Pingsheng. Stumbling over, he coincidentally sat right beside Shao Qing and asked: “What are you guys speaking about? You seem to be pretty happy.”

Shao Qing indifferently replied: “Speaking about our sons.”

Meng Shen became silent. He had prepared a lot of excuses, thought about all the possible topics Shao Qing might have been talking about so much that that he even thought of the perfect transition topic. Yet ultimately he discovered that Shao Qing was discussing children.

First of all he didn’t have any children. Second of all, he did not have any experience with taking care of children. Thirdly, he did not have any contact with small children. Thus, he discovered he had nothing to contribute to the conversation.

The crucial point was that Er Dai was sitting by the side glaring at him like a tiger glares at his prey. When Meng Shen tried to inch closer to Shao Qing, Er Dai would unwaveringly stare at Meng Shen like he was protecting his food then he would try to find an opportunity to secretly push Meng Shen away.

Meng Shen sat as if he was on pins and needles, completely uncomfortable. Unable to enter the conversation, he sat there in silence for a long time before finally walking away.

Once he left, Yan Ruru softly laughed: “I think he’s interested in you. Seeing your expression and that person beside you…

Shao Qing gave Er Dai a small slap and sighed then rubbed Er Dai’s head: “He doesn’t understand or know anything. The feelings he has towards me is probably akin to a chick to a mother in addition to being protective of his property. As for Meng Shen….” Shao Qing laughed and didn’t say anything.

She had already determined Meng Shen wanted something from her and that’s why he kept on approaching her. In regards to feelings between a man and a woman, there was probably nothing.

Shao Qing had once thought about finding a dad for Xiao Baozi to allow Xiao Baozi to have a complete family and a complete childhood. The first person she had considered was Yan Hanqing.

Firstly, they were both military personnel. Their ideology for certain things were quite similar. Secondly Yan Hanqing had a good character. After being together for quite some time, they understand each other quite well and he was definitely a trustworthy person. Thirdly, Yan Hanqing would definitely treat Xiao Baozi well. Furthermore, he would be completely devoted to her.

Ultimately, her and Er Dai had something that should not be mentioned occur. Er Dai was never her ideal partner. This wasn’t because Er Dai was a zombie but because Er Dai just really didn’t understand anything.

At present, Er Dai’s feelings towards her might be because he’s reliant on her or for familial affection but it was definitely not love. This was because he didn’t have his own full consciousness. He only had his basic instincts.

This kind of Er Dai, being a friend or a comrade is fine, but he is unsuited to being a * person.

* = don’t know what the author meant by that; i’ll let you guys interpret haha

Yet nature always plays trick with people. Ultimately, Er Dai and her had done the most intimate thing.

“This isn’t for certain.” Yan Ruru took a glance at Er Dai. She had already categorized Er Dai as having something wrong with his mental state, to speak frankly an ‘idiot’. Using an experienced tone to speak with Shao Qing: “Even though he is ‘special’,his gaze when he is looking at you is different. Have you seen it? Even if there were a bunch of people around, his eyes would only have you in it. There is no second person. In other words, his world only has you. I think anyone treated like that would be counted as fortunate.”

Shao Qing was stumped for words when Yan Ruru continued to speak: “You shouldn’t overrule his ability to love someone just because he has some problems. Perhaps you should try to understand it, to accept it. At least from my perspective he treats you sincerely. In fact, you and him would be a good pairing. At least he would never leave you or betray you.

Shao Qing forced her lips to move: “You’re super experienced. Let’s not talk about these things anymore. It’s getting late and it’s time to sleep. Let’s talk again tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Yan Ruru patted her bum and lazily headed towards her tent: “I’ll speak to you again another day.”

Shao Qing carried Xiao Baozi and turned her body to see Er Dai sitting behind her. With his eyes concentrated on her, she couldn’t help think about what Yan Ruru just said.

His eyes only has you. You are his entire world.

Could this be a deep-rooted romance?

Telling her to accept Er Dai right now was something she just couldn’t do. However, Shao Qing’s attitude towards Er Dai has changed dramatically. At least she won’t look at him like an adorable child.

Shao Qing felt that once Er Dai slowly ranks up, his wisdom and knowledge will slowly recover, same with the memories from his past. At that time if Er Dai said that he loved her then would she consider being with him.

Thus even if she accepted Er Dai into Xiao Baozi and her’s life, he would be a fully aware and complete Er Dai and not the current Er Dai.

When Shao Qing entered the tent with Xiao Baozi, Er Dai followed along. While Shao Qing prepared to take off her jacket she saw Er Dai burrow himself in the blankets.

Noticing Shao Qing staring at him, Er Dai opened up the blanket and patted it. He was showing Shao Qing that he was warming up the bed so Shao Qing could sleep in his embrace.

Shao Qing:…..

Since that event, Er Dai’s attitude towards Shao Qing had completely changed as well. His gaze when he looked at Shao Qing was like looking at his own wife; he would look incredibly joyous with a bit of indulgence and within the indulgence… a hint of bashfulness.

Right after that, Er Dai got kicked out. Unwilling to give up, he continuously tried to make his way into the tent, yet got kicked out over and over again. Er Dai shamelessly harassed them with no end trying to get into Shao Qing’s blanket.

After numerous failures, he changed his target to squeezing into the tent. Staying at a corner this time, Shao Qing was unable to kick him.

Letting him off, Shao Qing allowed Er Dai to remain in the corner hugging his knee. Seeing him curled up into a ball he looked particularly miserable.

Hugging Xiao Baozi to sleep after a little bit, she woke and couldn’t help but to look over at Er Dai in the corner. Er Dai had taken his long lanky body and had curled up into the tiniest of balls. It was as if he was scared to take up space in case Shao Qing might kick him out again.

Becoming soft hearted, Shao Qing wanted to call him over to the blankets but finally hardened her heart and turned around to continue to sleep. But her heart was constantly recalling Er Dai’s pitiful expression. Not being able to sleep well, she awoke again. Flipping her body over, she realized that Er Dai didn’t seem to be at his original position.

He seemed to be a bit closer now. Although the difference wasn’t huge, he definitely had shifted a bit closer. Keeping her eyes closed, Shao Qing continued to pretend she was asleep. After a little while, she squinted her eyes to look. As expected, she saw Er Dai sneakily shifting closer towards them.

Little by little he crept closer until he was very close to the blankets. Although he had shifted closer, Er Dai didn’t dare make his way into the blankets. He purely wanted to be closer to Shao Qing so he could observe her closer.

Seeing Er Dai’s pitiful manner and even more pitiful gaze, Shao Qing sighed out loud. Once she made a sound, Er Dai jumped up in fright and with a swish he had already returned to his original position with his head lowered pretending to sleep.

This made Shao Qing smile. Shifting over a bit to make space she looked towards Er Dai and said: “Come into the blankets to sleep. But don’t make a lot of movements, I don’t want to wake up my baby. Behave and go to sleep.”

Er Dai originally was hugging his head and was preparing to be kicked out at anytime. But hearing Shao Qings words, he was so thrilled he jumped up in joy. Without another word he took off his outer coat and made his way into the blankets.

Worried Shao Qing might change her mind, Er Dai made sure he behaved. Choosing a very tiny space he curled up into a very small tight ball. Shao Qing and adding on Xiao Baozi and Er Dai, there were three people in the blankets; if it was an ordinary person, it won’t even take ten minutes until a person would lay out a bedding and sleep on the ground rather than be squished in the blankets.

This was because the blankets were just too cold. All three of them didn’t have a normal temperature. If one were to touch it, it would be completely icy as if it just came from the freezer.

There was definitely no warmth. When Er Dai sleeps, he particularly enjoys leaning towards Shao Qing. Before he fell asleep he had remembered to keep himself in a ball and take as little space as possible. But after falling asleep, he began to relax and stretch out his body.

When morning arrived, the three turned into a giant bundle with Shao Qing hugging Xiao Baozi andEr Dai holding Shao Qing’s waist, with his leg lying on top of her legs.

When Shao Qing awoke, she heartlessly kicked Er Dai out of the blankets. Er Dai who didn’t know what had occurred was already outside the tent, his chin on the ground at a loss.

As a result, anyone who walked past Shao Qings tent would see Er Dai lying on his stomach in that manner. It was basically like a young wife being chased out of their house, so pitiful.

But the young pitiful person didn’t feel pitiful at all. Filled with eagerness, he once again tried to enter the tent. In one moment he would pass Shao Qing her socks, in another moment he would pass her shoes over, then he would pass her outer jacket. He was extremely attentive.

Shao Qing was never angry at him. It was just that seeing him behave in this manner was entertaining so she kept a displeased face on the entire time. Er Dai had no idea. He just thought that Shao Qing was angry so he just looked at her with a sad face. Racking his brains, he tried to think of ways to be a good wife (he thought) or else he was scared Shao Qing wouldn’t let him back into the bed.

“Captain Shao, you’re up early.” Yan Pingsheng smiled and greeted, “Have you eaten yet?” He had purposefully emphasized the two words Captain Shao. If a normal person were to hear that greeting, they would definitely be courteous. For example, you don’t have to call me Captain C, just call me XX is fine.

This way Yan Pingsheng would logically be able to call Shao Qing, Xiao Qing or Qingqing. Something that is a bit more intimate so that later on they would be able to draw closer.

That would be completely perfect.

Yet, Shao Qing didn’t try to correct the way he called her at all and just calmly replied: “Leader Yan is also up early. I just got up, is something the matter?”

Yan Pingsheng’s heart was about to crumble. It was only now had he ever met such a serious problem. The way Shao Qing’s brain worked was completely different from the average person….

Therefore when he used the average person’s line of thought to interact with her, the result has been distancing their relationship more and more. Just that time, Shao Qing was still calling his name but now she only refers to him as Leader. He originally wanted to bring their relationship closer, but the result was that he had formlessly pulled them apart.

“Nothing…”

“If there is nothing then I will go wash up first.” Shao Qing lightly smiled, her entire face conveying the message ‘if there is nothing urgent then get loss and don’t bother me’. Yan Pingsheng felt extremely sullen, so sullen he wanted to cry.

Finally he decided to go back and arrange his line of thought to find another way to attack!

Once Yan Pingsheng left, Shao Qing yawned and went to brush her teeth and wash her face. Er Dai and Xiao Baozi had been educated by Shao Qing that no matter the time and place, even if they were about to have a row, brushing your teeth first was the custom.

Three people, each person using their own toothbrush. They each had a new one. Shao Qing had specially chosen a parent and child set. In her hand was the mothers, Xiao Baozi had the baby one and Er Dai held the father one.

Even the cup holder was adorable. When Xiao Baozi brushed his teeth he was extremely amusing. He liked brushing for a little bit then sucking some water he would gurgle it in his mouth. Moving it in his cheeks, he looked just like a squirrel with stuffed cheeks.

Er Dai followed along. One big and one small squirrel, super adorable. When Shao Qing was finished, the two were still in the midst of gurgling. After, Er Dai was slapped by Shao Qing on the back causing his mouthful of water to be spat out, right on to Meng Sheng who was just walking by.

The completely innocent Meng Shen who was walking by: ……

Shao Qing also felt a bit ashamed: “Sorry, I didn’t see you walking by. How about you take it off and I can wash it for you. I’ll return it back to you later?”

Meng Sheng looked at the key point that was soaked, dripping wet, the mark was already spreading out. In his heart, he was crumbling.

He just wanted to come over as usual and see if he could somehow get closer to perhaps get information on the water purification news. Yet, he had this story as a result. If one didn’t know, they would think he had peed his pants.

Meng Shen was originally preparing to refuse since it just got soaked. Also giving it to Shao Qing to wash is not the right conduct.

Just when he was about to reject, he suddenly thought that this could be the breakthrough he needed to bring Shao Qing and his relationship closer. One on one, this could be the opportunity for them to talk about anything, they might even become more familiar with one another.

As a result, he said: “I guess that means I don’t need to wash my clothes then. Sorry for being a bother.”

“It’s not a bother.” Shao Qing thought about it then said: “If you were to go back change then send it over again it would be a bit troublesome. In my tent there’s some of Er Dai’s clothes. They’re new and something I grabbed from home. Your bodies are similar in size, you should be able to fit.”

“En…..” Meng Shen thought about it and decided he shouldn’t parade around with a soaked trouser especially since it’s in the crotch area, so he agreed. His height was about the same as Er Dai, but Er Dai was a bit skinnier. As a result when he put on Er Dai’s clothes, it was evidently tighter.

“Just wait until your clothes are dry, then I’ll deliver them to you.” Shao Qing pinched Xiao Baozi’s cheek to get him to spit out the water. Then she grabbed a piece of tissue to wipe the sides of his mouth.

“Ok. This time when I was coming over because I wanted to ask you if you had any interests in moving over to the Jiang Bei survivor base? The benefits from the Jiang Bei survivor base might not be as good as S city, the climate is also worse than S city by a bit, but….” Meng Shen then discovered there wasn’t any strong reasons for her to come. He could only finally dully say: “But I would still like it if you could bring you and your team to stay in our Jiang Bei survivor base.”

Please support this novel by reading at lazygirltranslations dot com

Shao Qing’s squinted her eyes. She had never seen someone try to persuade a person by stating the faults of their own survivor base. Finally he even dully said a ‘do you want to come?’. What kind of person would be willing to go?

In fact, Shao Qing’s background was over at S city. Just the amount of days she worked to accumulate rations was already enough reasons for her not to want to leave. Unless it came to an irreversible step, Shao Qing wouldn’t want to leave S city survivor base.

Meng Shen also knew that his words had no persuasiveness at all. However, he still couldn’t help but say: “Just wait until you get to Jiang Bei survivor base. When we get there, I’ll take you around. The people there are very nice, maybe you’ll like it.” He currently felt like he was not yielding and interests. When he was with Yan Pingsheng he was clearly able to wall off Yan Pingsheng’s order of not saying a word. But when he is facing Shao Qing, he is wasted to this state.

Could it be that he ought to get himself treated for a social defect. Although, Yan Pingsheng is always speaking about him, he repeatedly can’t do anything to handle this beauty.

“Maybe.” Shao Qing didn’t feel right to directly reject him. Tactfully she said: “We are about to eat breakfast. Have you eaten yet? Do you want to join us?”

Meng Shen shook his head. “I’ve already eaten. I’ll leave first. You guys can eat.”

When Meng Shen left, Shao Qing poured another cup of water and gave it to Xiao Baozi to rinse his mouth. Er Dai was completely resentful for the difference in Shao Qing’s treatment. Feeling wronged, he pouted his lips towards Shao Qing to show off the foam on the side of his lips in an attempt to get Shao Qing to wipe it off.

With a slap, she stuck the piece of tissue onto his face.

Er Dai: …..

After eating breakfast, they took down their tent and put away their stuff. They had to continue on their journey. Following what Yan Pingsheng had said, the return journey was rather smooth. With their current pace, they wouldn’t even need ten days to arrive at Jiang Bei survivor base.

Please support this novel by reading at lazygirltranslations dot com

Shao Qing wasn’t as optimistic as him. Looking at the map, there was a block of terrain that wasn’t flat. There was a mountain peak and hills. Past this area, there was another area where it used to be populated with people, so the zombie count can’t be small. In the wild, there could also be a lot of unknown dangers.

Otherwise, that time Meng Shen came, there wouldn’t have been so many people injured. Therefore, right now was not the time to relax.

During the time she was in S city survivor base, she had once seen a superhuman squad that only left the base a short distance but was completely wiped by a team of zombies led by one high ranking one.

People were like this. When they are at home, they would always be the most relaxed. Thus when they are relatively close to home, they would start to loosen their guard. As a result the entire team would be wiped out.

The end is obviously miserable. After being bitten by a zombie, a superhuman wouldn’t change into one. This meant the only ending for them would be to be slowly get eaten alive.

This might also be a way heaven is being equal. A regular person after being bitten would turn into a zombie. While a superhuman who was surrounded by zombies could only suicide or get eaten.

According to this way of thinking, maybe humans changing into zombies is another form of evolution just like how humans are turning into superhumans. The heavens can’t be that unfair to humans. Therefore a zombie could also evolve and when they are at the end of their evolution, maybe they will become a peak species.

Shao Qing didn’t think more on this idea. After all, Yan Pingsheng was definitely the base’s elite. If they can’t even keep up that fundamental awareness, then they had no qualifications to be an elite and represent their base to do a deal with another.

“After we pass that mountain entrance, then we’ll be very close to the small town. Once we arrive there, we can enter the small town to search around. A lot of families on the country would plant their own vegetables. If we’re lucky we might even have some harvest.” Yan Pingsheng’s car was driving side by side with Shao Qing’s. Whether he had matters or not, he would try to chat with Shao Qing.

If the team didn’t have a lot of superhumans, they would only grab enough rations to support their needs. They might not even enter the small town to face this danger. But because Yan Pingsheng had so many people, they didn’t even place that tiny town in their eyes.

Shao Qing didn’t say anything. She just scrunched up her eyebrows and stared at the mountain pass ahead. That place wasn’t a road, but was one the villagers had opened up themselves. Taking that small mountain then splitting it in two, the road was made of cement but was worn down by years of non-repair. You could see cracks everywhere.

Luckily their cars had really good performance. Even climbing up a mountain wouldn’t be a problem, let alone this road. However, Shao Qing felt that something was fishy about that shattered road. In the middle there seemed to be a pile of wheat spread out on the ground.

In fact, a very long piece of land had wheat laid down. It seemed as if before the apocalypse, there was someone who had planted them and since then no one had come to harvest it.

“Speed up a little bit when we are passing through the mountain pass.” Yan Pingsheng yelled out. Looking at his watch, before he could tell Shao Qing the time, the front most car along with the wheat suddenly fell with a bang.

The car behind didn’t have enough time to come to a halt and also fell down.

It turns out that underneath the wheat was a very deep hole. It was at least ten metres deep. The average car that fell down absolutely would not be able to climb back up.

The third car was able to halt in time causing the car behind to almost tailgate him. Because everything happened too quickly, they were simply unprepared.

“Everyone be careful.” Yan Pingsheng’s face was unsightly. From one look, you could tell that the big hole was manually made. It was absolutely not natural.

It wasn’t that they didn’t notice that someone had intentionally covered it up using wheat, but they just didn’t think about it in that direction. Now as a result of one slip up, they almost sacrificed two cars.

The person who opened up the road was the Blazing flame squad. Yan Ruru was incomparably mad. On one hand she sent people down the hole to rescue the victims and on the other hand she gave out a warning. There definitely won’t be anyone who would just dig this here for no reason, there must be a scheme.

“Everyone be careful of your surroundings.” Yan Pingsheng said as he also sent people down to help. They were all on high alert, but little did they know that secretly there was someone else hesitating.

This hole was dug by the survivors of this small village. A portion of the survivors from the small village had gone to the nearby survival bases. While the more able ones with more courage headed towards S City’s survivor base. This left behind the group that were unwilling to be controlled.

Please support this novel by reading at lazygirltranslations dot com

That group of people consists of around 30ish people with 80% of them being superhumans. Since this road led to the Jiang Bei survivor base and is in fact the safest route, they dug a trap here to prevent cars from going through.

When Yan Pingsheng had first headed out they had taken another route, thus they weren’t affected. However choosing a safer route on their return journey caused this encounter.

This group of people were like bandits. Everyday they would have people taking shifts to look after the hole. In the case that someone does fall into the trap, then they would call for their comrades to pick up the meat.

This group of people were vicious and merciless. If the ones found were men then they would kill them and if it were women they would be left behind, this was to cut the weeds by the root. The men would be turned into dried meat as provisions while the women are raped and raised as play things.

This group of people were also very smart. If they encountered a group that had quite a few superhumans, then they wouldn’t come out. They would allow the other group to leave. This is why til this day, they are still safely living here.

However this time, they had met Yan Pingsheng and his group. Yan Pingsheng’s group had about 30ish members. Even though within the group, only half were superhumans, they were hardy and strong. The average person running into this situation would not come out and would wait until Yan Pingsheng and them left, then they would once again set up the snap waiting for the next victim.

But this time was different. Anyone who wasn’t blind could see that the middle cars were filled with materials and supplies. Although it was covered by a tarpaulin and you couldn’t make out what was underneath, it couldn’t be anything else but the two things that would require so many cars to transport: food and gas.

It could also be a variety of supplies, but it would all basically be something they needed.

If they were able to succeed in this, then perhaps in the next year or two they would not have to worry about food. This was the greatest lure.

However the number of people present really caused them to hesitate. The person in charge of patrolling clenched his teeth and spoke to his partner: “In this short period of time, they won’t be able to carry their car out. You go notify our boss that a big fat sheep has arrive, but they have around thirty people. The amount of superhumans is unknown and they have around tenish cars filled with supplies. Ask the boss if we should make a move!”

His partner nodded and stealthily left. Their camp was in the vicinity, just established in the surroundings of the village. Going there and back wouldn’t take much time, let alone he was a speed superhuman.

Finding the leader on top of a woman’s belly, he gasped outside the entrance: “Boss, we’ve run into a fat sheep! This time it’s a really fat sheep! Should we make a move?”

A woman’s shoe came flying out and hit him square on the face: “Get loss! F*ck, you almost scared me sh*tless! What do you need? Make it quick! If you don’t say it in the count of five, I’ll chop off your legs.
