My review for any new reader wanting to try this novel is that he definitely read this masterpiece. This is actually one of the absolute best, especially if you have the relevant background knowledge (most significantly DNF), but even if you don’t, it’s easy to understand. The story has three pretty distinctive major arcs, I personally enjoyed them in the order 1 - 2 -3, but others may find it differently. What’s really good about it is that the character and world building is so distinctive it can actually stick, it’s not generic that you forget or instantly assign a generic label.

Why the 4 star then? Just genuinely confused.

Well I first watch tv show before reading the novel, so many times it felt kind of stretched and sometimes it was hard to imagine the matches. I really feel best mmorpg to be enjoyed as anime or tv show. But still I really enjoyed the novel.

The story is great. Compared to modern day vrmmorpg stories, this one excells in quality while maintaining a humble and realistic world. The Mc is humble and OP at the same time. Overall, it is a great story.

This is amazing, the protagonist doesn't have a bunch of b*llsh*t power-ups that are common in other stories, the protagonist is simply talented, but not at an unrealistic level, side-characters are likable, plot is interesting And the fact that he uses the weapon that his dead friend made in the past, to get back to the top, is something that i love

Best novel ive read so far, and itll probably stay that way. Ive never had the need to write a review except for this novel. My favourite character is definitely steamed bun, with a close second Ye Xiu. Beautiful story and the end was poetic. Everyone in the team had their own moment.

Interesting and funny writing style of Blue Butterfly, which made me lmao. I like this so much! The best of all in this type of novel, not one of!

Epic tale of pro player that might be happening in real life. Not the kind of fantasy or vr thing, but a game, that represents nowadays game. Competitive game, and author made it so we can see how is the backstory of pro player worldlike is. Done reading, I'll say score 95 of 100.

I remember watching the anime for this show and loving it, then moving to the novel and loving it even more. I've since read it from start to finish like 10 times and still love it. This novel the entire reason I started reading webnovels, wuxia etc and remains one of the best imo. The only thing that I wasn't happy about was author not clarifying Su Mucheng and Ye Xiu's relationship and Chen Gou being annoying. Though she did have a few moments.

Everything in the novel is fantastic: the growth, the narrative, the characters. I'm utterly fascinated; congratulations to the translators and authors. Thank you for all of your efforts. Despite the fact that some arcs may be boring and uninteresting, I'm utterly smitten with the characters. The shift between the game environment and the real world is seamless, with no awkwardness. I could write so much more, but I don't want it to be too long. Give the novel a shot, especially if you enjoy MMORPGs.

A gaming novel can’t escape all of the usual tropes. Yes, the MC is god-like (he is a pro-player after all), and he has a cheat weapon nobody has. He is also seemingly the only one who is willing to try and push limitations towards a direction that nobody has ever considered. Most gaming novels focus about their MC powering through the game and surviving with incredible luck, able to PK anyone because of their OPness. Such stories don’t feel “fair”. You don’t get that feeling with this story. What makes this story stand out is the characters and dialogue. Characters like Steamed Bun Invasion provide the direct laughs, while the MC himself has pithy one-liners that can give you a smirk. Other stories try to dazzle you with the MC and his gang of friends having the best skills and equipment, throwing stat windows and numbers in your face, drowning you in trivial nonsense that you probably don’t care about or remember after you clicked “Next Chapter”

Great story, very immersive in a universe of pro play futuristic but also very similar to what already exists. The details make you wish Glory existed IRL. I've re-read it a few times and I won't stop anytime soon.
