Chapter 26: Are You Planning To Go To Cheng Zimin’s House and Show Your Respects To His Parents?

As it followed Lin Chu’s directions, the black Grand Cherokee stopped at below a condominium that was not too new and not that old.

Lin Chu raised her head and saw that her house lights were turned off. Xu Moyan was not back yet. She thanked Yan Beicheng and released the buckle to her seatbelt. Then she heard the sound of the car door opening.

She turned back and was surprised to see Yan Beicheng and Yan Ningbai getting down from the car.

“Master Yan?” Lin Chu asked in surprised.

“We’ll walk you upstairs.” Yan Beicheng held on to Yan Ningbai’s hand and walked over to her.

“I won’t have any problems going up. The security guards in this area are quite competent.” Lin Chu instinctively did not want to bother him and was not interested to get more involved with him.

She had no idea if Yan Beicheng was usually this… helpful to others.

However, she also thought that someone like him would not normally be that easy to get close to.

Yan Beicheng’s long legs made a stopped and he looked at Lin Chu in silent. She felt pins and needles at his look, but he raised his eyebrows and said, “I’m being gentlemanly, don’t overthink it.”

Lin Chu, “…”

She looked at little Yan Ningbai who gave her a similar look. She did not know what more to say.

Yan Beicheng’s words made her seem foolish.

She lowered her head and stopped talking. She walked at the front with a stuffy feeling.

There was an elevator in the condominium. It was lucky that Yan Ningbai was there as Lin Chu was less stressed out by the fact that they were stuck in a sealed space together.

The elevator reached the sixth floor and Yan Beicheng accompanied her toward her house, silently taking a look at her door number. Lin Chu did not notice this and took out the keys from her bag, opening the door with her head lowered.

From the top of her head, came Yan Beicheng’s calm and pleasant voice asking her, “Are you planning to go to Cheng Ziming’s house and show your respects to his parents?”

There did not seem to be many emotions in his tone, but Lin Chu felt that there was a slight gloominess in it.

Lin Chu’s lowered head hid a flash of her slight frown. She did not lift up her head but continued facing the top of her head at Yan Beicheng and said, “Master Yan, I think, this is my personal affair.”

There was a sudden silence in the air, it was like there was a cold pressure in the atmosphere. Lin Chu felt her nervous heart almost stop as the keys in the palm of her hand was soaked with sweat. One could smell the thick smell of metal being covered in sweat.

She did not dare to lift her head but heard a cold snigger. From her lowered eyes, she saw the pair of bespoke Oxford shoes that looked like it came from Saville Row turned around without hesitation, taking Yan Ningbai towards the elevator. It was still at the sixth floor and did not move down, which was why when Yan Beicheng’s long fingers pressed the button, the doors immediately opened.

Lin Chu watched as Yan Beicheng’s cold, handsome face pulled Yan Ningbai into the elevator until it closed and moved down. She could still feel the chilly air in the atmosphere, the warmth had yet to return.

Lin Chu sighed and opened the door with her keys. Xu Moyan was not home yet.

However, Xu Moyan called right after she changed into her slippers. “Lin Chu, my superior pulled me away to T City right after work. It was last minute. There’s a situation in T City. I’ve just touched down and saw your missed call the moment I turned on my phone. What happened?”
