Chapter 68: Your Big Nephew Is Still Young, You Should Give In To Him

“Big niece-in-law, your uncle wants to eat the drumstick!” Yan Ningbai ran over as he placed his two plump little hands on the counter in tiptoe. His pair of big black eyes watched the grilled chicken intently.

Lin Chu tore off a piece of tin foil to wrap the drumstick to prevent it from burning the hand and passed it to Yan Ningbai. Yan Ningbai held the drumstick up high like a torch and ran out of the kitchen in delight. He went near where Yan Beicheng was and did not say a word but bit off a big chunk of the chicken in front of Yan Beicheng.

“Big nephew, this was grilled by big niece-in-law. Tastes really good,” Yan Ningbai’s mouth was stuffed with the drumstick. There was a layer of oil on his mouth.

Yan Beicheng looked at him coldly and suddenly stood up and entered the kitchen. Yu Zi saw him coming in, so she took a plate of cooked vegetables out to give them some space.

Yan Beicheng pointed at the grilled chicken on the table, “You gave Ningbai the drumstick.”

“You want one too?” Lin Chu laughed as she asked. She was kidding as she thought Yan Beicheng would not be so petty as to fight for food with a child.

Who knew that Yan Beicheng did pout, “Why did you give Ningbai but didn’t think about giving one to me? You didn’t see the way he was showing it off in front of me. My girlfriend grilled that chicken. He should be grateful to me for having the opportunity to eat it. How dare he show off in front of me?”

Lin Chu, “…”

He was really going to fight for food with a child.

Suddenly, Lin Chu realized something wrong with Yan Beicheng’s words and blushed as she mumbled, “Who’s your girlfriend?”

Yan Beicheng watched Lin Chu lowered her head and he smiled gently as Lin Chu’s white, slender fingers picked up the last drumstick for him.

“I want it wrapped with tin foil too. It must be thicker than Ningbai’s,” said Yan Beicheng.

In the end, Yan Beicheng also took his hot piece of drumstick and proudly walked into the living room. He saw that Yan Ningbai had almost finished his drumstick and smiled in delight, purposefully going right in front of Yan Ningbai and took a huge bite of the meat, “Tastes really great. Looks like it’s a bigger drumstick than yours. Take a look, even the tin foil is wrapped thicker than yours. Your niece-in-law must be worried that it’ll burn me; she even purposely left me the bigger drumstick.”

After which, he took another huge bite of it in front of Yan Ningbai.

Poor Yan Ningbai had finished his drumstick and he could only watch as he licked his lips. He looked at the big drumstick in Yan Beicheng’s hands and then looked at the bone left in his hands. He could only taste the remainder of the chicken by licking the bone. He turned to see Yu Zi come out and ran after her with his oily hands. His oily hands had imprinted on Yu Zi’s pants.

“Mum! Look at big nephew bullying me. When both of you were not around, you’ve no idea what sort of life I’ve been having here. I can’t bear to describe it to you!” Yan Ningbai said in misery.

Yu Zi placed the dishes on the table and carried Yan Ningbai up. She lowered her head to see her pants with the oily handprints and her face twitched a little before saying, “You’re the senior here. Your big nephew is still young, you should give in to him!”

Lin Chu came out with more dishes just at the moment, “…”

Yan Beicheng pretended not to say anything and walked over while still holding his drumstick. He was eating it slowly and a look of victory on his face, “All of you are eating what my girlfriend is cooking and drinking what she is making. You’d better leave the best for me.”

“…” Yu Zi looked at Yan Huaian. She had never realized that her grandnephew could be so immature.

Yan Huaian, “…”

Even he felt embarrassed about it.

Yan Ningbai decided not to be too calculative with this big nephew who was in love. He picked up a piece of chicken wing and nibbled it silently.

Before they left, Yan Huaian was worried he would lose his future grandniece-in-law after witnessing the low intelligence performance of Yan Beicheng and decided to find a way to persuade Lin Chu at the door. “Grandniece-in-law, my grandnephew might sometimes have some problems with that brain of his, but he’s still quite a reliable person for most of the time. “The main reason was that Old Lady Lin was there too. I’d have to meet them because of Old Lady Lin,” Lin Chu replied lightly.

Xu Moyan rolled her eyes, “Just because she helped put some medicine on you and you’re forever remembering what a good person she is. That Old Lady Lin is nothing good too. She did nothing as she watched you get tortured by the Lin family. She didn’t say a word when Su Changxin was beating you. What good is there to wait after the beating is done before putting on some medicine for you?”

Lin Chu sighed, “Regardless, she’s the only one who cared for my life in the Lin family. It’s nothing too much, I’ll still give her the respect she deserves.”

“Okay, as long as I know you’re fine. Are you still eating with the Lin family? Just leave already, otherwise, you wouldn’t know what to say to them after staying so long,” said Xu Moyan.

“Oh no, I left before eating. If I don’t do something, I wouldn’t be able to handle Lin Yuwen and Cheng Ziming. They’d think I’m easy to bully. They’d find ways to give me trouble every time, so this time, I decided to give them trouble instead. Even if Lin Yuwen tried to protect him, Lin Zhenghe would still be wary as he’s constantly suspicious of people. Cheng Ziming can forget about getting on his good side,” Lin Chu explained the situation.

“Hahahahahaha! Lin Chu, that’s such a great tactic! You should give them lots of trouble. Cheng Ziming was the one who let you down first. Even if you’ve let it go, I’m still angry on your behalf. You did well today!” Xu Moyan could not help laughing in great delight.

Lin Chu smiled and shook her head, “If it wasn’t for them constantly looking for trouble, I wouldn’t do what I did today. I just hope they would stop bugging me in the future.”

When Yan Beicheng returned, Lin Chu had finished her call with Xu Moyan and had on her coat. She was prepared to leave.

“My roommate is back from work. She’s really worried about me. I need to go home,” Lin Chu explained.

This time, Yan Beicheng did not force her to stay and was complied with taking her home.

Cheng Ziming did not expect Lin Chu to retaliate tonight. The moment he thought about Lin Chu’s words, he thought about how the Lin family brushing her statements off. They may have done that on the surface but in reality, they would definitely think lesser of him now. Cheng Ziming felt disgusted to the core.

Lin Zhenghe, especially, had been doing business for so many years and have seen so many different people and situations. He was a cunning fox and would now be wary against him. He was even unsure if Lin Yuwen will distance herself from him. Even though Lin Yuwen had attempted to protect him tonight, it was difficult to tell what she really thought. Only she would know her own thoughts. He could not be completely sure if Lin Yuwen would be defensive against him.

This was really evil of Lin Chu!

Cheng Ziming’s anger built up along the way and he parked right below Lin Chu’s apartment in a rage. He raised his head and noticed that her house lights were still on and thought she was home, so he ran up the stairs.

Hearing how the doorbell was ringing frantically, Xu Moyan frowned and walked to the door, thinking who was it that was being so rude. She was meant to come back on Monday but since her work had finished, she followed her supervisor and came back early.

She looked through the door’s peephole and opened the door to an angry Cheng Ziming. He said angrily, “Where’s Lin Chu? Get her out here!”

“She’s not around,” Xu Moyan was not concerned about what Cheng Ziming wanted and started to close the door.

Cheng Ziming quickly blocked the door and viciously said, “Get her to come out now. Don’t pretend that she’s not around, I know she’s home! She didn’t even have her meal when she left the hotel. Where could she go to? I know she must be feeling guilty for sabotaging me and dare not show up in front of me!”

“Cheng Ziming, are you so thick-skinned to come shouting in front of our house? Are you sure Lin Chu even sabotaged you? She’s not home yet. You can scream and shout all you want and she still won’t be home. She won’t appear in front of you. Do you really want to confront Lin Chu after the disgusting thing you’ve done? It’s not that terrible of her to do what she did. Besides, if all of you did not think that she is so easily bullied and continued bullying her, do you think she would have struck back? Or is she only allowed to be bullied but not allowed to retaliate? She doesn’t owe you anything, why should she allow herself to be bullied with no defense? There’s no such rule in this world. Who do you think you are! When you were with Lin Chu, she was always giving in to you. Now that you’ve betrayed her and let her down, you’re considered lucky that she didn’t get back at you. Xu Moyan was so angry with Cheng Ziming’s shameless words. Her words had placed Cheng Ziming in a raging frenzy.

“This is between me and Lin Chu. What has it got to do with you? You’re just an outsider being pulled by the nose and pointing fingers around. How did I bully her? I’m telling the truth. If she didn’t always appear in front of me and Yuwen, we wouldn’t be talking about her this way,” Cheng Ziming said with a dark face.

“Cheng Ziming, how shameless can you be? When did Lin Chu go to you on her own accord? It’s you and Lin Yuwen who kept coming to her for no reason. Every one of you thinks that you are a somebody, wanting to show off in front of Lin Chu and warning her off at the same time. Lin Chu has never paid any attention to you after you broke up. I beg of you to stop being so narcissistic and think that Lin Chu still has feelings for you. How overconfident can you be?! And you still dare come here to confront Lin Chu? What did she say wrong? Did she malign you? Didn’t you betray her by cheating on her with Lin Yuwen? You didn’t make things clear with her when you were with Lin Yuwen and even used her as free labor to take care of your parents. If you hadn’t needed to meet the parents to be engaged to Lin Yuwen, would you have planned to lie to Lin Chu all your life? Xu Moyan did not give Cheng Ziming another chance to talk. While he was distracted by her angry words, she slammed the door right in his face.

Cheng Ziming’s face blackened as he clenched his teeth. He noticed that the neighbors had their doors opened and was watching the whole thing from their doors. They were looking at him condescendingly.

Cheng Ziming’s face turned darker and he turned to leave. Suddenly the door behind him opened.

Cheng Ziming thought Lin Chu was finally showing but all he saw was Xu Moyan coming out with a broom. She swept all the dust and dirt on the cement flooring towards Cheng Ziming and said to herself, “Sweeping away the rubbish, sweeping away the rubbish, sweep away all the rubbish!”

“Crazy woman! Cough cough! You crazy woman! Cough!” Cheng Ziming choked on the dust. He did not even wait for the elevator and ran down the stairs to the fifth floor to take the elevator from there.

Yan Beicheng stopped his car below Lin Chu’s house. The carpark was full, so Yan Beicheng could only stop a bit further off. Lin Chu saw that her house lights were turned on, and said, “My roommate is home. I’ll just go upstairs by myself. You don’t need to get out of the car.”

Yan Beicheng nodded. He did not force anything on her. He had to take things slowly, or else she would be scared off by him.

“I’ll wait here until your bedroom light is on,” Yan Beicheng said lightly. His voice was deeply mature and pleasant, so much nicer than Cheng Ziming’s voice. Within the confinements of the dark car, Lin Chu felt as if she was wrapped in warm sunlight.

After getting to know Yan Beicheng for a while, Lin Chu was aware that Yan Beicheng would not care about people that he did not know. He would even be stingy with his smile. Because of this, Yan Beicheng’s concern and sensitivity warmed Lin Chu’s heart.
