Chapter 50: The Opening Ceremony

Every film that Ye Zian directed has always had a very simple opening ceremony. They always followed the investors’ requirements and the procedure. It was the first day of their filming, and since the press was here, everyone related to the movie was present.

It was only until the four main actors appeared arrived in front of the cameras did Liu Man, mixed in a huge crowd of extras, knew that the male lead was Qiao Xin and the female lead was Feng Qingyu.

Since Ye Zian and Qiu Jing both wanted them to be the leads, Qiao Xin and Feng Qingyu had a higher level than Tang Tu and Yang Huayue.

Qiao Xin was young when he became famous. He started acting when he was just twelve and was a child star. His looks were favored by God, for he did not grow uglier and instead became more handsome as the years passed by. He grew taller, and there was something special about his appearance — He had two dimples.

Qiao Xin is only twenty-five years old as of now, but he had already participated in more than a hundred films. He was one of the celebrities who stayed popular for the longest time. However, although he had a lot of work, there wasn’t one that was unique in particular. Most of his works were in the middle, not too bad but not too good either. Ye Zian chose Qiao Xin because he had good acting skills and his appearance fits Gu Qing’s character description — Gu Qing also had dimples.

Feng Qingyu used to be a model for magazines, and switched her career to acting midway. The past few years, Feng Qingyu’s company spent a lot of money to make her popular, and gave her really good resources. This film was one of them. Feng Qingyu’s conditions were pretty good. Since she used to be a model, which guaranteed her good stature. She also looked very pretty, she was the kind of belle that gave people a fresh feeling. She had long hair that reached her shoulders, and her face was small. Her eyes and her eyebrows looked beautiful, and she was very skinny. She gave a comforting feeling and had a big fan group.

Feng Qingyu studied piano when she was a child, so she knew how to play it at an average level. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to play like Liu Man and Tang Tu, but it was no problem for her to fake it in the movie.

On the opening ceremony, Ye Zian briefed the press on the conditions of the new movie. He didn’t say what the movie was about, and only told everyone it was a love story that involved mysteries. The journalists knew they couldn’t dig out any valuable information, so they only took some photos of the leading actors to report to their boss.

Liu Man stood with the extras who barely appeared in the movie. They weren’t at all prominent, so no journalist would pay any attention to them.

After the ceremony, the filming part of the movie officially started. There was no work for Liu Man on the first day.

Maybe it was because Qiu Jing picked Liu Man herself, the crew sent someone to introduce her to where they were shooting at.

The main part of the movie was when the characters became adults. A huge part of the filming occurred at the male lead, Gu Qing’s house. Ye Zian had a friend who owned a garden villa in Shanghai that was quite historic. He kindly lent the house to Ye Zian for him to film at.

The garden villa had three floors in total. One underground and two above. Such a garden villa in the center of Shanghai was even more valuable than a mansion. Positioned in the middle of many skyscrapers, the garden villa looked very eminent. The owner revamped it a little, and put milky-white color as the outside fences. They also redecorated the garden and planted a lot of evergreen trees, such as cedars, dragon junipers, and cinnamomum camphora.

In the center of the garden was a large marble fountain, and in the middle of that fountain was a statue. The owner used the advantage of the terrain to build tall walls around the entire garden villa and the lawn to form a private “world”, so that no one could see what was there from the outside. This also guaranteed privacy for when they filmed the movie.

There were guards all around the entrance and the backdoors, no fans or journalists could get in.

At this moment, in the garden, they were filming the scene when the male lead first led the female lead back home.

The setting of this scene was summer.

The weather was nice that afternoon, and the sun was shining brightly on the evergreen plants in the garden. No one would be able to tell that the actual temperature was actually zero degrees celsius.

Feng Qingyu was only wearing a black dress, which was very tenuous and revealed a lot of her body parts; her neck, her collarbones, her limbs were all exposed to the cold air. She was tall and skinny, so she looked good wearing black.

Liu Man remembered in the script, when the female lead, Yan Xialan, first came to the house of Ji, she was wearing the exact costume. Yan Xialan grew up in America, and was quite open, just like the western people. She loved wearing elegant, orthodox clothings, especially black ones. Most of her clothings was black.

But Yan Xialan’s personality wasn’t dull at all. In fact, she was very outgoing and enjoyed playing outdoor sports. She was always filled with energy, and this matched Feng Qingyu’s public persona in the entertainment circle.

As if she didn’t feel cold at all, Feng Qingyu turned to Qiao Xin, “This is my first time coming to your place. Are you sure your parents would like me?” Feng Qingyu was a bit worried, but her expression was filled with confidence.

Yan Xialan was this kind of person. She had good looks, talents, and a good background. She didn’t lack anything, and she was strong on the inside. The only thing was, she put too much work into her relationship with Gu Qing, and she was scared of losing it.

Qiao Xin didn’t directly answer Feng Qingyu, but instead looked at a window on the second floor with a complicated look before putting an arm over Feng Qingyu’s shoulders and saying softly, “Don’t worry, my parents are really easy to get along with.”

“OK,” Ye Zian made a gesture.

Qiao Xin and Feng Qingyu’s assistants quickly came over with the duo’s puffer coats and cups of warm water.

Yang Huayue’s costume was already on, and she was waiting on one side. She had been watching Liu Man, walking around and being very curious at everything.

Yang Huayue was someone who was very experienced in the entertainment circle. She saw how new Liu Man looked to everything, and she instantly felt like a predecessor. She stood up and wanted to have a chat with Liu Man.

But was surprised when she saw Tang Tu, who was famous for being aloof in the entertainment circle, walked behind Liu Man and tapped on her shoulders. Fortunately, the male and female leads were filming and everyone was in the front garden. Nobody noticed them.

Tang Tu’s tap scared Liu Man, who was looking around curiously. She turned to see Tang Tu, and unconsciously stepped back.

This reaction made Tang Tu slightly wrinkled his brows. He asked confusedly,

“Why are you so scared of me?”

Tang Tu felt really uncomfortable.

Liu Man wasn’t scared of Tang Tu. She saw how Tang Tu and Shen Mozhen were blocked by all their fans at the school campus, and she saw how Tang Tu could get on Wei Bo’s most popular topics and get discussed by tens of thousands of fans. Last time, when she fainted, Tang Tu was only trying to save her, but everyone in the school thought she was just purposely trying to seduce Tang Tu.

Liu Man was very clear in her mind that technically, she wasn’t even a new actress, and she owned nothing. Being together with such a popular person like Tang Tu, she did not know what the press would even write about her.

“I’m not scared of you, I just think we aren’t that familiar with each other,” Liu Man didn’t want Tang Tu to look bad. She didn’t know Tang Tu very well anyways, they’d only met a few times.
