too many meaningless adventures, first 100 chapter was goat then you witness the art of Chinese writers writing on walls of texts

This novel had a really promising start…but! The author is too smart for his/her own good. They refused to take the simple and straightforward path. Everything has to be overly complicated and convoluted, it takes too many turns. Instead of moving on with the plot, the author keeps adding random side quests. Many time while reading, I stopped and asked what's the point of this part/arc? There are more problems with this novel but i’m too lazy to write them all.

The side quests are all important to the main plot and all of them have a reason for existing.

This is an excellent novel and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. The only problem is, I would recommend this novel to those who have read novels already for a while and have no issue using their imaginations to understand what is going on. Yes, there is a lot of writing, but thats what makes this so unique considering how most Chinese novels are just brainless yapping, here, everything plays out perfectly and in a consistent balance, with a few loose gears here and there that just serve to make the story far more interesting than it is given credit for. Note: I'm currently 430+ chapters on reading and will continue to read, i just read the comments below and couldn't help but doubt the intelligence of some, but oh well, there are 9bn humans and not all of them tend to reach the average IQ levels.

I know I already said this in my previous comment but I truly can't stress enough how bad chapters 128, 129 and 130 are. The author isn't anywhere near as clever as he thinks he is. The way those chapters play out is more ridiculous than a parody yet they are played straight. I honestly just had to laugh at some points that I had ever taken this novel seriously.

i know right, mc basically rendered all godhead palace's and basking moon sect's (he thought they'll steal his secrets) schemes just by getting a method to resist soulscour, he has such strong will that he can render any type of t*rt*r* ineffective (mc is barely a spirit disciple), any mortal shedding cultivator can slap mc to death in 1 strike if there was no plot armor, and why is godhead's palace's arguably most important spy's cultivation just at 9 revolutions? (gu changqing) honestly, it's not a question of strong will or something but it's impossible to hold secrets when your opponents are like 10 cultivation realms above you, in fact mc does not even have a strong will, it was later explained around chap 400 that mc has not undergone true "tempering" and his will his weak. the beginning was very interesting but this just turned to sh*t later on, i should've dropped around chap 130 but i suffered 320 chapters more of this torment before finally dropping.

Im afraid this novel follows in the footsteps of many promising Xianxia novels. From chapter 1-50 it was a truly great start, 9/10, great characters, compelling story, well written. Chapter 51-100 faltered a little, but still a solid 7/10, the fighting scenes were needlessly long and some plot points stretched past any reasonable benefit of the doubt, but the story was still compelling, the pace steady, it was still a worthy novel. After chapter 100, and specifically chapter 128-130 which is one of the dumbest things i have ever read, things start to fall apart, the author starts making huge leaps of logic, characters behave erratically in service of the general direction of the plot over consistency, and the pacing grinds to a halt. This is just another case of an author having a great premise at the start, but once they pass that first prompt and have to start writing multiple new chapters a week without any real plan they just cant keep up the quality of the work. Its a shame.

Generally speaking this is a very good novel, but this author can't write action to save his life. The fight from chapter 68-70 is without a doubt one of the worst fights in a xianxia novel that I have ever read, terribly paced with no action or excitement, far too much monologing and no interesting turns. An all round awful fight scene, almost drop worthy.

Pretty good and very different from your usual cultivation type shit Though I would wait to pile up more chapters because I'm not really interested in the current disciple recruitment arc or I would probably pick it up again if he and xu miaoran meet again
