Chapter 59: Marvin the Hunter

[Contract Boyfriend]

[Avi agreed to help you in training as long as you pretend to be her boyfriend. The contract will become void if her stalker finds out the truth.]

Liu Ye glanced at the quest description on the way and nodded in approval. What was better than a level 60 NPC that will help him with his farming and even protect him from bounty hunters? Even if the game decided to cut his experience gains with her assistance and he gained new enemies, he at least neutralized the older threats.

In exchange for all that, he just needed to pretend they are together which wasn't that hard. At least that's what he thought.

"Baby, let's train together today," Avi called out sweetly while hugging his arm into her chest. "I can't wait to spend a whole day with you."

It was all a fake act in front of Avi's admirer who clearly hated to watch them being so close. He didn't seem to buy it either as he quickly blocked their way when they tried to pass him.

Another named NPC was a sign Liu Ye was on the right path. The only thing that concerned him was the ballooned HP and MP compared to his own. The right gear was truly the second important factor in the game.

"This guy? Really? You could have picked anyone else on the road and it would have been more believable but you picked him, a newbie," Marvin ridiculed with a chuckle as he fixed his short brown hair. "He is so weak that one of my fireballs is enough to kill him and you are trying to tell me you two are dating? Don't make me laugh."

"You can think whatever you want, I don't care," Avi replied indifferently as she grabbed Liu Ye's hand. "Babe, we are leaving."

She tried to pull him with her but Liu Ye didn't budge and instead jerked her back into his arms instead. Avi grabbed onto his chest in surprise while Liu Ye already embraced both her waist and back.

"Let me handle this…" Liu Ye whispered, her mouth just inches away from his lips. "Pretend we kiss."

Avi was tense just a second ago but she relaxed after his words and let him brush his hand through her golden hair. To make it believable, she reached out to his face and uncovered his bandana ever so slightly before rubbing their noses together.

All of this to provoke Marvin further and create a drama that would alarm the Academy Officials. Liu Ye only needed one look at Marvin to know he was already eager for a fight and would attack him as soon as they tried to pass them.

Their only option was to get him to move away himself.

"Stop bothering my girlfriend," Liu Ye commanded coldly as he hid her face in his neck and stared Marvin down.

"Hah, or what? Are you going to beat me up?" Marvin asked back with a glare and his palm lit up with flames. "Let's have a duel then. Prove that you are worthy of her."

His challenge has brought out a commotion from the crowd. The students of the Academy have already made a semi audience on both sides of the road. All they needed was popcorn to match with them.

Marvin's nick was blue this whole time but it suddenly turned red, showing he was hostile and available to kill. Too bad, Liu Ye wasn't easy to provoke.

"If you think that strength and riches are everything then you will die alone," Liu Ye informed brutally. "You are bringing shame to your family with your actions. Creep and stalker. I wonder what your grandfather will say about it when the news reaches him."

"Fuck you!" Marvin cursed and suddenly sent a stream of fire in the sky before lashing it down like a gigantic whip.

Avi tried to unconsciously escape from his grasp to avoid the attack but he held her firmly while dodging to the side. After provoking Marvin this whole time, Liu Ye was only waiting to be attacked.

"Trust me," Liu Ye assured when Avi looked at him with a complicated gaze. He released her without waiting for her reply and returned to taunting.

"It's clear that you are crazy when you are even attacking the woman you tried to court," Liu Ye judged with a shake of his head. "You Firebenders are always so aggressive. You should attend some lessons on controlling your anger."

Liu Ye couldn't be luckier to face an angry monkey instead of a silent viper. It was always better if your opponent was easy to provoke and struggled to control their emotions. The true danger lay with opponents that would silently walk away while smiling to themselves.

Surprisingly, Marvin didn't explode right away but even though he contained himself, he still stared daggers at him.

"So what? I don't care about this bitch anymore," Marvin announced as ogled Avi's body with a lewd gaze. "I just wanted to taste her great body but I'm not interested anymore. She can die with you now."

He didn't hesitate and rushed at them while punching multiple Fireballs with his fists. He followed it with a Flaming Blade before stomping on the ground and kicking a boulder at Liu Ye's face.

Two Elements!

Liu Ye had no chance to take such a combo directly so he swiftly dropped to the ground when a pair of sexy legs appeared in front of him.

Everything happened so fast.

Swoosh!

Avi crushed the Fireballs apart with a punch, broke the Flaming Blade with a kick before cutting the boulder with an Ice Blade on her forearm.

"I was trying to be nice and not fight you but now that you called me a bitch, I don't give a fuck anymore," Avi said coldly as her body wrapped with water. "I dare you to fight me in the Academy!"

"You think I'm scared of you?" Marvin replied with a sneer and attacked again. This time though he couldn't finish even one move before he was stopped.

"That's enough!"
