I feel like I have read this novel before but I can't remember which one was it πŸ€” it has the same starting but changes have been made to it like how this one is that he escaped an experimental facility and the one I read before escaped a factory met a girl that gives him jobs and the first job he gets Is to track someone just like in this one I can't remember really well but it's just really similar πŸ€”

I finally made my assessment of this novel, it gave my soul relief, it's like going to an imaginary bathroom after a long day holding back the urge to *r*n*t*.

I love good Lovecraftian stuff, but looking at the tags (mainly the system one) kinda makes me leery of it. Systems are all about empowerment of the MC, but that is entirely antithetical to cosmic horror in the first place. I mean to begin with, in cosmic horror, you can only either get the bad end, or manage to delay the coming of the bad end for a few hundred years. You can't kill Cthulhu or Nyarlathotep, only stop the cultists from summoning them or temporarily prevent them from fully manifesting their avatar.

Indeed, I've read up until to 106, it doesn't seem like he can kill god and his OP stats and knowledge have carried him, but it has bit by bit start to lose its importance, every fight, literally the gods will try to intervene every fight and he can only try to drive them away and make stuff to repel the memories, although it does seem like he will come at a point where he will ascend godhood lol, as of now the author has stopped updating 3months ago and stopped at 150

So it does more-or-less end up with that sort of OP protagonist stuff that is antithetical to cosmic horror then. Glad I didn't pick this up. I just wish there were more authors who could write cosmic horror correctly.

Hallelujah, the comments are back, now I can release a little bit of what I've been holding onto because of this lightnovel, but I'll do that in the reviews tab.

I like it. It very similar to another "Genius Mage" LightNovel but this one completely changes the setting and plot. So you have a character with similar abilities in a different setting!

lots of good horror in this one the system conveys this in a very good way and the entities he fights are creepy and horrifying in their own way

I'm eating some dried shredded squid, while finding something new to read, because I'm waiting for some updates and trying to stock pile the recent novels I've read. Then when I suddenly encounter the word 'Cthulhu' in the title of the novel, I said it's a sign for me to read this novel even if it still didn't reach a hundred chapters, breaking my rules. Cthulhu summons me here πŸ™πŸ¦‘πŸ˜‚

Careful where darkness treads my good friend, the mountains of madness beckons the yellow kings demise from reading within the town of innsmouth.

I didn't understand it either. Probably just something straight out of a lovecraft book. So maybe, just maybe you are not that dumb.

He just smashed together a bunch of Lovecraftian stuff in a sort of word salad. At the Mountains of Madness is the title of one of Lovecraft's longer short stories, The Yellow King is Hastur, and Innsmouth is the name of the town in Shadow Over Innsmouth which is another one of Lovecraft's short stories.
