At the start, the writing quality itself seems subpar, we'll see how it goes

It picks up once they leave Persia, as the historical setting of the Anabasis kinda doesn't leave the author much room, but once the story can start changing historical events the writing really improves

From chapters 300+, the MC starts to appear less and less. One of the consequences is that in the beginning, the author showed the MC's ideas and plans frequently, but later on, it happens rarely and only during some "game-changing" decisions. In my opinion, at least half of every chapter should be focused on the MC.

Great novel, but there is one problem I noticed: time-skips. They are necessary in this type of novel, but they could be written much better. Not long ago, I found a "家父汉高祖", a historical kingdom-building novel that spans the MC's whole life. It focuses more on characters and bureaucracy and has a steady flow without abrupt time-skips. Instead of skipping whole years every volume, the author cuts out a few months every few chapters for things like travel time, construction, etc.

Unfortunately, there is no English translation. I downloaded it as a txt file with a browser extension and used GPT to translate it.

    Hows the harem?

It isn't really a harem, the MC has two wives, he marries the first for love, and she's fantastic in her own right and probably more "modern". The 2nd he marries because of circumstance but he comes to love her too, and she's more "traditional" but she is also a great character. There's no annoying stereotypical harem member characters

Masterpiece!!!!!! It got me hooked so bad that I for the first time had sleepless night and completed the novel in just 4 days sigh- At first I was hesitant but later after giving it a go I couldn't stop at all as if I'm high on drugs believe me it's definitely worth it. If you don't think so then do suggest me with any which you think is better than this novel or else don't bother badmouthing it. If not this Father will fight you to death. Hadesss!!!!!!!!!!
