Once Upon A Time, There Was A Spirit Sword Mountain

I read a few chapters, the story is alright. The visual version is better though. If you ever want to check out this story, first take a look at that since I think it is far superior.

To begin, I must acknowledge a few positive aspects of this work. The world background is undeniably unique and, overall, above average in its execution. Additionally, the relationships between the characters are portrayed decently, adding some depth to the narrative. However, I must now address the numerous shortcomings that significantly detract from the reading experience. Foremost among them is the issue of humor. While I occasionally found myself chuckling, most of the attempted comedic moments were simply painful to endure. It is evident that the author struggled to naturally integrate humor and instead forced it upon the narrative, resulting in awkward and contrived attempts at being funny. Furthermore, the novel falters in maintaining an appropriate tone during serious moments. The characters, including Elders and Sect Leaders, often behave in an immature and childlike manner, making it challenging to take them seriously when the situation demands it. This lack of emotional depth weakens the overall impact of the story. Another significant problem lies in the handling of surprise-based humor. The writing style employed in this novel removes any genuine surprise factor from comedic situations, thus undermining the intended humorous effect. What should have been moments of levity became stale and predictable due to the execution. Moreover, it is unclear whether the fault lies with the translator or the author, but the unnecessary use of vulgar language to force humor is highly disappointing and immature. The conversations between characters lack wit and rely on crude language and obscenities, which are simply tasteless.

My first ever comment in any platform, ever. The only reason for that is because of the unfair ratings this novel has. Understandably, some people may not like the execution of the novel, however, If you are in for a unique plot, A Very cunning main character, who faces hardships and wins nearly everytime, but the victories aren't easy and if you can really see the wisdom behind his moves, the novel story won't even be the main thing you will be attracted to. The world building is really really good. The organisational structures, the practicality. One of the best I have read. And I have read a lot of good novels. The Main Character has defense powers(mainly) at the start, but at ~25% completion of chapters, he gains good attack skills and Techniques too, which combine to form a good balance. Comedy is there, many adult jokes. . . Romance is a subplot mainly after the mid stages of the novel. It isn't very highlighted and is more written as a comedic element but it is there nonetheless. May not be the type you are expecting before reading. Action is good. Fights are planned and you can imagine the moves. Although it's only after some chapters that really good fights are written. I mean epic level fights are more at the later stage of the novel. Powers are diverse and Power setting is very very intelligent. The plot is very very good. I repeat and emphasize the Very part. Advice: learn a little from the mindset and wisdom depicted by the Main character. Personally I like this a lot. It is what bought me to the world of Mangas/manhuas/manhwas from its anime, and then this thing brought me to the Novels too.

I suggest you read this on some other translation website cause for some reason some paragraphs get repeated on lightnovelworld and the structure of the writing is sometimes irritating, but besides that this novel is awesome, i'd personally rate this 4. 5/5 but since the other guy gave a 1/5 i bumped it up a bit to fix the ratings.

Witty and well written, with a unique main character that one can almost say is nigh impossible to find in today's saturated LN market. It even comes with an awesome deuteragonist and a great cast consistent cast that (almost) never gets abandoned or forgotten throughout the series. The story is packed with a lot of light-hearted banter where characters make fun of each other (while some may find it offensive, please do note that it is all in jest), with a healthy dose of twists and turns that surprisingly doesn't feel like deus ex machina. To balance it out, the story also comes with a few truly poignant moments that cut deep enough that I still remember the scenes, one year after finishing the novel. Truly a work of art that is is too often misunderstood.

With many false and repeat, the way to describe is too focused on the insignificant thing and the literature is so poor that barely anyone can keep up with the story.
