Possibly the best Japanese novel I have read. Not only did it pave the wave for many novels that came after it but it still holds up well even today. While this book is partially “wow look at mc do cool thing he’s so strong” it’s also much more then that. Sometimes we don’t see the mc for large portions of time to add depth to the side characters to the point where you hope that they might stand a chance against mc. This novel is also remarkably well at writing smart characters. There are a lot of situations where I think “wow I would not have thought to do that” and it’s usually not even the mc that does these things. I am rambling on but good novel you should read

I was expecting 1k caps, but that's it? And it's still marked as green on the site, but comments from months ago say about volumes being released, eh... Well, I loved the anime, I'll read it someday and see if it was actually finished.

I thought this was different from the Anime called overlord but it is the same show. Protagonist is called Ainz ool GOWN (probably). Reviews say it is very good but I never really liked the anime. So ig I'll pass on this one.

The author wants to finish volume 17 and 18 at the same time. Considering how long it took him to finish 15 and 16 (they were originally meant to be one volume), he will probably release them in a year from now on. Maybe we will hear about some news on his progress when the movie airs, similar to when season 4 dropped with volume 15 and 16. Fingers crossed guys.

Does anyone know if the author said anything about when the next volume is coming out?

its not, he dropped the series because of reddit pirating. I think 2 volumes are still coming out though. Nothing after tho.

Oh so that is how fan translations that are 7 years in the future and done for free called. I call it unpaid labour

For those of you who don’t know: Overlord: The Holy Kingdom is an upcoming anime film and the official release date of the movie is on September 20, 2024. It is a movie adaptation of the Roble Holy Kingdom arc (Volumes 12 - 13 of the Light Novel), which has not been adapted to the anime prior.

You can check on any of your local cinemas if they stream this movie. If that’s unfortunately not the case, you would need to wait for a bit longer before you can watch it online on pirate sites. Though, with an Crunchyroll Account, you could watch it immediately and legally as well.

Okay, so, I see all these comments about how it was dropped and everything, but I have a more important question Is the translation good?? Does it live up to the greatness of the anime??

The anime falls short in comparison with the light novel in my opinion (I like highly detailed writing) you can slowly witness how the main characters mental state changes from borderline personality fragmentation due to trying to uphold different personas for different tasks and situations (not allowing himself to be himself due to putting up a front for the now real npc’s that he and his friends/guild mates made) his mind starts to slip from reality and it effects his morality in various ways. Which is never really given due justice in either the manga or the anime.

Ooooh fantastic, I love super detailed writing with the mc slipping into insanity 😩 Another important question: Is the grammar, spelling, and punctuation good? Cause I really enjoyed Reincarnated as a Slime, but couldn't stand reading the novel cause of the incredibly poor translation quality 😔

I honestly didn’t read it from this site…. I have the books (hard cover worthy books) there’s another site that I read from that I had followed the translation releases chapter by chapter until I could afford buying the books (they had some interesting cometary notes that clued in on things normally lost in translation or only understood culturally like local phrases and such). So I have no idea of this sites quality of translation, sorry. It is just one of my favorites so I will sometimes just add to reading lists on sites I read on and once in a while I will check out the comments just because 😅(literally looking for a new book to fit my reading mood and saw it in passing as I was digging through the adventure genre)

Oh I see, thank you 😊 in that case, I will absolutely read this after I finish my current novel. Any webnovel that's hardcover worthy is usually good 😌 I very much appreciate the feedback, and lightnovel rarely disappoints regarding translation quality

Pay attention to the main characters mental state as it’s well done in how it degrades certain aspects of himself as he puts priority on his guild friends and their creations before himself or anyone from the world he’s been dropped into. His very personality changes and he eventually re evaluates his morality to align himself with the npc’s that came to life and make a place where they can belong uncontested.

Actually people say it's the anime that doesn't live up to the standard of the ln and specially manga. Though I find the ln a bit too unnecessarily detailed. But it's good I'd say.

Author originally said it would be 17 volumes (last 2 volumes were gonna be a part 1 and part 2) but COVID hit and their favorite cafe closed so they had trouble writing and shortened it. I wish I was kidding

It's not a fanfic, and no, there are only 15 volumes, with the most recent one coming out a year ago.
