Summary

The 13th disciple of the Great Mount Hua Sect. One of the Greatest Third-Generation Swordsmen. The Plum Blossom Sword Master, Chungmyung.

After slicing the head of the peerless Heavenly Demon, who threw the world into chaos, he slept an eternal sleep on the peak of the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains. Jumping over a hundred years, he comes back in the body of a child.

But… what? Mount Hua declined? What the hell are you talking about!?

It’s only natural to want to live if you’re going broke.

“Decline? Even though I’m here? Who would dare!”

Plum blossoms eventually fall.

But when the cold winter passes and spring comes, plum blossoms shall bloom again.

“But I’m gonna die first before Mount Hua gets revived! If you’re gonna go bust, might as well do it right, you bastards!”

The beginning of the Plum Blossom Sword Master, Chungmyung’s solitary struggle to save the thoroughly declining Mount Hua Sect.

I'm at chapter 804 and he didn't reveal it yet. Don't think it'll happen in the next 80 chapters either that are out yet.

I first read this years ago and it's still on going and recently decided to reread it. It’s one of the books I truly enjoyed, earning a spot in my top 20. I’ve read SS, COI, LOTM, RI, DE, and other popular books that people hype up, but my top 10 consists of those I feel deeply connected to. Taste is subjective, what some people dislike might be enjoyable to others. I’ve explored books across different genres, and while some weren’t for me, I wouldn’t call them bad since they might be someone else’s favorite. Having an open mind is important, especially after reading well-written books that set a high standard. I also enjoy discovering hidden gems less popular books that turn out to be great. Instead of relying on ratings or rankings, I choose books that catch my interest, give them a try, and often end up enjoying them.

I stumbled upon *Desolate Era* recently and finished it a few days ago. It may not have the same hype and popular as the top 5 in LN, but I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

Is the novel better then the manwha?

Yes. Even if the expressions in the manhua are great you lose so much detail and joke that i préfère the novel.

How's the novel? I read the manhwa and didn't like it, the humor was forced, nothing unique or intresting, MC acts like an edgy teenager throwing a tantrum So I was surprised it has a 4.9 rating. Is it good?

The humor not being to your liking doesn't make it forced. It just means its not your cup of tea.

And it’s not his cup of tea because it feels forced to him. It’s his own opinion.

I know this is over but just to chip in: Saying something is forced is a lil different from saying it feels forced. That's the point the other guy is trying to make I think.

      • Peak 10

Thats a solid take actually. If that’s the perspective the other guy was looking at it from then that’s understandable. Honestly though what the original comment wrote was kinda like a personal review so I don’t think the wording makes much of a difference in this case.

People nowadays love to throw the word forced when they don’t know what it means. Forced humor wouldn’t make this one of the most cricticallt claimed and well liked novels/manhwa. It’s obviously not their cup of tea which makes it feel forced. If humor was really forced this novel would not be considered a great like it is

I'm confused, you do know what an opinion is right? You can have a beautiful art work that still doesn't sit well with some people. I'm not here to argue on whether or not the novel is good, all I'm saying is if it felt forced to him then that's fine. Your views on the novel doesn't have to be the same as his.

How are you so confused by something so simple? If I say that LOTM is convulated and boring, does that make me right? Yes, its an opinion sure, but I'm grown up to the point where I know that I find it to be like that because its not my cup of tea. Am I right? Very likely not since a novel that is boring and convulated wouln't be so highly regarded. That's the difference. Not hard to understand. Humor is subjective, and if its not your cup of tea, it doesn't mean its forced. It just means it wasn't up to your taste, just like food.

Because you never had a point to begin with lmao. Something not being your cup of tea is the equivalent of saying the comedy is not up to your taste, which doesn't make it forced, just not for you.

You said it yourself, humor is “subjective”. Why is it so hard to understand that people can have differing opinions on what humor is, and in that same boat what forced humor feels like. Your stance on what makes humor forced is YOURS, you can’t make something that is highly subjective like humor into something so objective. I do have a point, you’ve just chosen to ignore it.

      • TruthfulReader 8

Your point falls apart when its clear that when something is not your cup of tea equates to it not fitting your subjective taste. Objectively, it doesn't make it forced. Nor does what I believe about LOTM mean its true. You are simply being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian

Falls apart? Not at all, if anything your point solidifies mine. You just said something isn’t your cup of tea when it doesn’t fit your subjective taste. So the question I have is who are you to decide a person’s reason for why something isn’t their taste? Isn’t that up to them since subjectivity is PERSONAL? You called me contrarian but isn’t that what you’re doing? You said objectively it doesn’t make it forced, but this is something based on subjectivity since it’s dealing with emotions. I agree with what you said about your beliefs on LOTM not being necessarily true because that’s an opinion and an opinion can’t be true or false.

How is it so hard to understand something so simple? Comedy is subjective - highly dependent on one's taste. If you don't like it, then its because its not up to your style or preference. Does that make the joke force or bad? Obviously not because it is subjective, which IS what (not your cup of team means). How is it so hard to not get something so simple?

        Reply
      • Peak 10

“Does that make the joke forced or bad” that DEPENDS on the person in question because comedy/humor is SUBJECTIVE. There is a reason why it’s not to their style or preference. Your points are contradictory to each other. If you can’t understand that then let’s end the discussion here, this has gone on for far too long.

Bro are you stupid? His point is hella clear lol. Comedy is indeed subjective and if you don't like it, its because its not their cup of tea. Literally all he said You literally just spouted a bunch of b*llsh*t that reinforces his point You clearly have too much time in your hands cus this entire argument between the two makes me feel smart lol

This novel holds a special place in my heart, not just for the countless times it has made me laugh and cry but for the unforgettable memories it has given me. Whenever I think about it, a deep sense of nostalgia washes over me. I won’t spoil anything, but I strongly encourage you to focus on the journey itself and the rich emotions portrayed by the characters rather than fixating on the ending. A small spoiler, if I may—don’t rush through it while waiting for the arrival of the Demonic Cult. Sit back, immerse yourself, and enjoy the experience.
