This story isn't going to be for everyone. At times certain things won't make sense until the author throws in an explanation, almost as a footnote, dozens of chapters later. Going into this story you need to realize that the main character is evil, but he himself is indifferent to the evil. What I mean by that is he justifies all his evil actions as simply how the world works and all that matters is power and yourself. He's the type of main character that would sacrifice babies to increase his own power. There are very graphic scenes in this story. I wouldn't be surprised if the author looks at gore p*rn. In real life there's problem a few things wrong with him. In the comments you'll have countless defenders of the main character. You can ignore them at times, many of them are people that would creep you out in real life if you ever met them. However being interested in a darker theme story doesn't mean you're a creep. People always look when there's a car crash. Morbidity just attracts curiosity. It's why horror is such a popular genre. At first I was put off by the main character and some of the writing. However the author brings the story together well (though in a slow meandering way at times) and the writing is done fairly well. Not sure if it deserves rank #5, but definitely not a poor recommendation if you want something darker to read.

I heard everyone talking about this but I didn’t expect too much. Boy was I wrong. This is probably one of my top ten novels. I wish that the author could’ve finished it. I will earnestly await that day if it ever comes.

The best Novel I have ever read. It's not your usual wuxia novel with a shallow mc, shallow forgettable characters, forgettable world. The MC, a unique character shaped by his his experiences giving him unparalled understanding, a goal - he pursues and shows no wavering in his will, his perseverance. He has abundent emotions, but he supresses them for his goal, 0 hesitation, nothing exceeds his bottom line for his goal. The side characters (stories) all have key roles to play in the plot but also carry deep hidden meanings. We see the beauty and helpessness of each of their struggles for their ideals. The world building is immense, there is a clear vast structure, continents and heavens. Changes throughout different continents, undercurrents developing and brewing into crucial elements that effect the future plot. The Legends of Ren Zu. During the appropriate plot points we see this book (within the gu world) mentioned and gives great insights that open up new perspectives for you. Keeping as brief as possible to avoid spoiling, but the book exponentially improves after every book in my experience as well.

The best story I have ever read or seen. I completely recommend anyone to read this. This novel could quite literally increase the depth with which you understand many real life situations around you, including situations related to people, family, society, the flow of money/assets (economy), emotions, interaction between elements, general physics, chain reactions. . . It will also, as long as you properly read and have the bare minimal capability, increase the ease with which you are able to imagine the things you read. The power system felt a bit strange to me in the beggining, but while the characters you read about understand the world more and more, you also understand more yourself and everything makes more and more sense. Many life lessons are taught in this novel, in both direct and indirect ways, depending on your own interpretation, of course. The world is really unique in many ways and there are also many unique and fun to read characters and situations. I do not recommend overjudging the actions of characters here, instead, try to understand things from their own point of view as much as you can with the information you are given. Reading the comments people wrote in each chapter was also fun, I wrote some myself. I wholeheartedly thank my past self and everything that made me find this novel and give it a try. Let me be honest guys: Firstly after reading the bio, i was like "wtf is this i dont understand sh*t because it was like "gu gu gu gu" but then after i started reading. . hell its one of the best novels on this page trust me Well anyways i enjoy reading it so far!

Firstly, this novel is a master piece. Even though it's incomplete, it still allows the reader to think "what if" without necessarily feeling that there is more to be desired, rather it makes the reader want to read even more, to know more. Fang yuan's character is masterfully written, to the point where I would believe he embodies all the aspects of a cold character. This novel isn't made for the light hearted or those seeking a character with exponential character development/growth like those who go on an adventure and come back as a new person, no. Fang yuan is a man with 500 years worth of experience, and one that knows how to survive in the land Gu.

This novel is absolute masterpiece as everyone already knows that so I will tell things not to do in this novel is that don't skip <> even though they may seem boring it actually holds a lot of wisdom which can be used in irl . Honestly you can learn a lot of wisdom which can be applied irl ( expect the murdering and bloodshed) .
