Summary

Power corrupts.

Saplings are harvested before growing tall.

Who knows the secrets of ancient gods?

The river of time connecting the past and the future is endless.

No one can sail it, almost.

Upon the ruins of civilizations with struggle and hopes extinguished, there exists a place known as abandoned by the heavens, where during the night, darkness devours all.

In this place where survival is hard and villages are rare, one strange village only has the elderly who are crippled, or mute, or blind, or deaf.

    This has good mystery elements. . and its well written with good in depth plot and world building. . but i would have loved it without the eastern fantasy stuff. . power levels or skills are very confusing in easter fantasy novels. . Ex: mc is trying to understand a sword from a lecture. . a sword can be a light , can be not really a sword. . what cr*p is this !! how am i suppose to read this ?? this happens a lot . . even chapters. . such chapters are boring. . I am not giving a bad review. . . this is a very good novel with good plot, with eastern fantasy that has no cliches, good comedy, no harem (+++ for that), no gender bias. . so its a good read. . personally not a big fan of this genre. . but i still want to read it though. . because plot is good. . Note: i only read until 150 ch as of now

      Have you read Desolate Era? It only has 1 love interest and I thought the story was quite good and didn’t use too many cliches. Warlock of the Magus World is good too, but it’s cultivation system is about magic and not normal cultivation. There isn’t any real romance but he does end up with 2 wives.

    Wanted to write this comment to go against the curve of so many others I see here, Tales of Herding Gods is one of the most well written, well thought out, long form plot driven narratives I've ever read, everything happens for a reason, characters and plot lines introduced are always seen through fully and many aspects of different mythologies are included, rather than strictly sticking to chinese xianxia, the standout aspect of this novel to me, is how intelligent all the characters are, you won't find young masters often acting like spoiled brats and old ancestors attacking children for offending their clans, old characters are eccentric and even gods and demons had their origins. Great story so far

    good novel, but not for everyone Its slow progress but u will enjoy it , time travel exists so little bit confusing,mc too much thinking about the enemy ..because there's no real enemy, everything will depend on the benefits and losses, I wanna write a review for everything but after 4monyth there's no update so I'm gonna wait a little bit longer.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This novel is okay, but it is painfully slow. Read up to 270, everything is jumbled up and is slow. I need to make this clear, it is SLOW. We only got bits and pieces and most of the time it often goes to one arc to another then back to the previous arc and back to another and to a new again. What’s more the MC seems keeps getting dragged around, he never does anything it’s more of others need to move for him to do so. It gets boring real quick and most of the time it’s not even MC goal that are being done.
    In the Great Ruin, there is a village named Disabled Elderly Village. There lives Granny Si- an old woman with a hunch, Cripple - a old man with a leg missing, Blind - a old blind man with a bamboo stick, Old Ma - a old man with a missing arm, Butcher - a old man with a missing torso(a bit insane), Apothecary - a old man without a face(actually removed) and Village Chief - a old man without any limbs. One day(technically dawn) Granny Si heard a child wailing, along side Cripple she went and found a baby boy in the arms of a young woman(almost dead) by the river. Seeing as the darkness is closing in Granny Si took the boy and brought it to the village. Read as we explore this young boys adventure into finding his origin and the backstory of these elders who hid in the Great Ruin who is waiting for death to come to them.
    Okay. . . while reading the first chapter I immediately grasped the plagiarism. This is totally the origin story of 'Krishna' an incarnation of the Hindu GOD 'Vishnu'. I've not even read halfway through the first chapter and it gives me the same feeling. If you know you know. Krishna's story has been recounted so many times through movies, cartoons and even drama series. I say this is another retelling with a Chinese wuxia twist. Let's see. . .
