Summary

Fate had never been kind to Ji Ning. Wracked by illnesses and infirm his entire life on Earth, Ji Ning knew early on that he would die as a teenager. What he didn’t know was that there really was such a thing as life after death and that the multiverse was a far larger place than he thought.

A lucky twist of fate meant that Ji Ning was reborn into a world of Immortals and monsters, of Ki Refiners and powerful Fiendgods, a world where Dynasties lasted for millions of years. A world which is both greater… and yet also smaller… than he ever could imagine. He would have the opportunity to join them, and in this life, Ji Ning swore to himself, he would never let himself be weak again! The Era he was born into was a Desolate one, but Ji Ning would make it his era.

Does MC of this novel have any golden finger or any cheat? Or its just normal cultivation novel in which MC rely on his talent and luck?

Without knowing it, it is already the third novel by this author that I have read... like the previous ones, the ending was interesting and consistent. It is not the best series I have read, but it is recommended, maybe an 8.5/10

Bad as in? Rushed or unsatisfying? As for warlock of magus world...it was alright, but d*mn, the ending gave me magi flashbacks. Magi, the anime, was actually one of the reasons I got into reading manga back then, but the ending was so bad it went from one of my favorites to mid at best. It almost made me drop it in it's last 10 or so chapters. Still, compared to that, warlock was nothing

But yeah warlock of magnus was like top 3 novels for me with legendary mechanic and reverend insanity at the time It instantly droped down to like a low 7 with that ending. XD infact i even doubted was it truly good like there are some arcs that are just sooooo boring 6.1 is how i have it rated now ffs

I'm currently on book 3 or volume 3 chap 1. So far I really like the story or at least the premise of the story, but the translation/(how the novel is written) is terrible in my opinion. Does this get any better? I don't see how I could possible read over 1000 chapters of this. please give your opinions.

Desolate Era is a xianxia that is heavily inspired by eastern mythology and celestial cultivation system. Many popular figures from Chinese mythology pops up such as the monkey king, nuwa, pangu, huyi and the cultivation method and levels incorporate doaist and Taoist concepts in very fun ways! It is a classic because it is a great execution of a martial arts and xianxia novel. it has great world building and a calm and intelligent protagonist. Readers who are not used to reading xianxia often like this less because they are not used to the world building and Saga length. A great read for those familiar to xianxia. DE has a reputation of being a staple must read in the xianxia genre.

Desolate Era was the first xianxia novel I have read and multiple novels later, I still find myself revisiting this novel for the colorful world building and cultivation system inspired by tradition Chinese mythology. While some might prefer a more fast paced story and might offer Martial World as a better novel, I always found a unique appreciation for this novel as a Chinese American. This novel captures the core if Xianxia: “Since I was young, I’ve always loved reading the memoirs of these transcendents, looking at each and every one of them. I’ve even dreamed of flying high in the skies myself, drinking wine with deities, and catching some demons just to have fun with them. Now that I’ve finally stepped on this road, I’d definitely put in all my effort to walk even further. To me, this road contains so much meaning. love it. ” (Written by I eat tomatoes) When I moved on to other works, I found myself yearning for the elements of this story that made it a part of a true saga.
