Worm (Parahumans #1) novel is a popular light novel covering Adventure, Action, and Sci-fi genres. Written by the Author Wildbow. 312 chapters have been translated and translation of all chapters was completed.

Summary

An introverted teenage girl with an unconventional superpower, Taylor goes out in costume to find escape from a deeply unhappy and frustrated civilian life. Her first attempt at taking down a supervillain sees her mistaken for one, thrusting her into the midst of the local ‘cape’ scene’s politics, unwritten rules, and ambiguous morals. As she risks life and limb, Taylor faces the dilemma of having to do the wrong things for the right reasons.

The story, titled Worm, takes the form of a web serial, posted in bite-sized reads in much the same way that authors such as Mark Twain would release their works one chapter at a time in the days before full-fledged novels. Worm started in June 2011, updating twice a week, and finished in late November, 2013. It totals roughly 1,680,000 words; roughly 26 typical novels in length (or 10-11 very thick novels). The story updated on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with bonus chapters appearing on the occasional Thursday, as explained below.

Thirty chapters in, and I got to say- this story is pretty good so far. The action scenes are well done, and the superpowers are well written and very unique.

I read this like a decade ago on a different site. It's absolutely fantastic, and a great take on heros and villains

Anybody out here? I'm dumb so maybe I'm hallucinating but it says Parahumans #1. So, does that mean it has a sequel?

Just to add on a bit about Wards, don't go in with the expectation level of Worms, it did alright but it lacks to draw of Worms. I don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers but wards is just way too grimderp with all its dangers. Also Worms is pretty huge on spacebattle and sufficevelocity, so if u're interested in discussions check those site out as well.

It is downright criminal how low this and a practical guide to evil is…

Female mc tends to be a turnoff for most. Plus the official site has the novel available for free. The other observation imo is how stupid the mc seems in the beginning, even for a kid.

True, i have been hovering around this and practical guide to evil, cuz it's got an FMC and it's a massive imagination killer.

Does she get better? I found it incredible interesting but sorta dropped it around chapter 40 because of how stupid the mc felt. Practical guide to evil mc was a lot better and I just kinda expected the same here.

Yeah, I’ve started reading and it is good but a little bit of pacing issue for myself, if it does t get better in the first hundred I’m dropping…

Hey worm's here! Man for one of the best things i've ever read it sure does have a low rank. To be honest this probably beats out shadow slave for me and i love that.

Can you explain why like this maybe even more then SS? I love SS mainly for the non stop action, amazing power system, and yhe mystery of their world. Does this offer something similar? At least maybe a good system?

The system is a basic superpower system. What you have at the start is what you're stuck with. Now that might sound bad if it wasn't for the fact that wildbow is probably one of the most creative writers i've ever seen. There's elements of mystery though that's not really what pulled me in. What really made me love this story is the fights and the consequences. Taylor (mc) has a tendency to punch up hard throughout the story and seeing how she finds a way to not end up dead is great. Especially considering the fact that she can't always win and even when she does the results of that fight are always going to be something people deal with whether it's her, her friends, the cape community (cape = people with powers) or society at large. To be honest this is probably my favorite thing about it. Not every fight is hard or impossible but they're all important.

i'm just saying that i **personally** like this better. I'm not saying that ss is bad or anything. There's just something about worm that made me grab on and get immersed immediately.

I have to say to anyone who's not sure whether they should read this, maybe because of rank, f*ck the rank. Don't listen to what other people think of it. Read this for yourself and see how amazing it is

Rank is a really sh*t way of measuring how good a novel is as it means that completed or older novels often don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Honestly, just search for 'author wildbow' you'll then find a list of authors works and searching them will lead you to a dedicated website to read them, that's for free or you can buy on amzon

Can someone try to convince me of reading this ? I just want to know more about the type of things I will found in this novel, like a review with your opinions, without spoilers please.

Don't really know how to give reviews though but the story is well structured good world building and there seems to be a mystery behind the world, in terms of writing it's similar to mother of learning with makes it more interesting Currently at Ch28

Thanks, since you say it has great world building and story telling then I'll give it a chance. Actually I also have mother of learning in my to-read list so you pick my interest with that.
