Can't we just agree to the fact that Tie Ruo Nan is more annoying than FZ? Atleast bro has a character development unlike that lil b*tch Anyway, y'all got the chapter number where FY invades the mortal battlefield to get the rank 8 birb back?

Hello, I ask for your guidance. Spoilers up to ch. 430ish. I would like opinions only from people that have read the whole novel, please. Also I kindly ask that you don't insult me or downvote me just because I don't like things you might enjoy. As a final note, I can further elaborate on points if need be, whether to clarify or whatever. Having said that, here come my doubts: Do I keep reading or do I drop, does this novel have what I'm looking for or will It just not be my cup of tea. The Magic system seems fun, with almost endless possibilities. The world is vast and I have seen almost none of It yet. The MC is typical shameless/ruthless/schemimg/cold-gaze guy nothing new in these novels. Power creep seems crazy and I'm not even 1/4 in. My favorite part was BNB plotting and finding out for how long and even the smart MC getting outplayed, but my thrill was short lived since It was all solved in less than 10 chapters. I like MC's that have to suffer. Oh, I'm running out of space :(

The thrill is always short lived. Author also have some problem to over explain things .

I also have to say, expanding on my last points, that I love characters like Guts (wow, how original I know). F*ck*rs that even though they "win", they are in a more f*ck*d up situation, time after time, they can't catch a break. And with nobody to praise them, it's just them and their spirit to keep going. I often find Sunny is the closest in light novels (although of course both are incomparable). And I find that FY has It too easy, which makes sense considering he has 500 years of experience. That's why I liked him getting plotted on and finding him in a f*ck*d situation. Which again, was short lived. I don't find the rest of the novel that interesting, although everything served a purpose and I understand why we got those moments shown, or why we get FZ's POV even though he is a detestable plain dumb character. The fights and faceslap/Epic moments I find in any chinese novel pretty much. And the side characters are just bland.

Though there is one part where the whole community united to get furious over one part of the novel. The hype is never short lived. It feels like that because we read a lot of it without realizing it. But then again, every novel needs some breathing room before every hype moment. Plus if you don't understand this beautifully constructed and explained world of this novel. Then you are not thinking while reading. It is not like average novel where every little information is handed to you, I even fear that. *shudders and remembers about martial unity*

There was not one part of the whole novel besides the last stretch before and after ch. 400 that I felt 'hyped'. Even though from the comments I saw many people going crazy over some parts. I just find It repetitive from other novels. And I know RI came before, and they are actually copying this formula, but again, I just found It repetitive and not really hype worth It. I don't think I missed how the world works, it's again nothing new. I read every part because this has been recommended many times and been a top novel for many years. I didn't even skim though sluggish parts or FZ's POV even though I hated those parts because I wanted to get ecery detail. My question was, Will this be all It has to offer? I didn't consider it bad, of course. Just want to know if there is more to it

Nope, as I said, 600 hundred chapters are trailer as mortals are just that, mortals. Nobody can match Fang Yuan because he was an immortal. Fang Yuan will meet his match, later Fang Yuan will lose the feeling of overdog as you will see the true image of Gu World. There are too many mysteries, too many schemes intertwining. I consider Reverend Insanity to be better than Lord of the mysteries(top 5 novels for me) and shadow slave(overrated piece of media with a strong start) even though Reverend insanity is not my favorite novel(my favorite novel is an huge inspiration for Ri, called Ri/renegade immortal). For example, most Gu immortal are as scheming as most novel's most scheming characters. You will meet plenty character with same level of schemes and terror as Amon, Adam, mordret from above mentioned novels.

I will say that First 600 chapters are just prologue. And if you dont like the power creep then you cant do anything as one rank 6 Gu Immortal and wipe million rank 5 without any rank 6 immortal Gu and just the fact that they have infinite primeval essence. Not that this scenario ever happened. You should be reading this novel for good writing and schemes, not to pass time and stuff

I understand that, nothing new in cultivation novels with heavenly/divine/upper realms. But I find that FY is already peerless or is about to be in R4. I'm guessing he will fight upper realms sooner rather than later, maybe even two realms above him in the future since his foundation and experience are incomparable almost. And again, I'm at chapters 400 ish, the novel has 2.4k. so if I'm finding the power creep at this point I can't imagine going forward

*Spoilers! there somethings i wrote which some may consider as spoilers so please dont read it if you are one of them.* Nope, someone having rank 7 battle strength as rank 6 is super rare. And having rank 8 battle strength as rank 7 is extremely difficult only one person in the current world has that battle strength and even this is rarely seen in thousands of thousands of years. As for having rank 9 battle strength as rank 8? Haha.. Good luck with that, every rank 9 didn't become unbeatable and dominated their era for nothing. Rank 8 and rank 9's gap is too huge. Nobody could cross it. At least where I am, I am at 1400 chapters.

Ok if you've read until 400 then probably you have a grasp on FY's personality, his intellect, scheming and extreme cunning. So from that I'll say that what you've seen until now will only be a minute struggle that FY had gone through compared to the chain of problems that FY will have to overcome. New Villains will appear with strength and intellect equal to or even greater than FY. Multiple organizations and their people will come across FY as mountains he will have to climb to reach his ambition. Some fights are epic and jaw-dropping. He will have to endure so many hardships and struggles in the novel that seems insurmountable. What you have to understand is that FY is an extreme goal-oriented hardworking and tenacious pragmatist. There are so many ups and downs he will have to face in order to the grand throne of Rank 9 and fulfill his age-old aspiration. Also, point to note, FY's situation is quite peculiar which you will eventually understand.

Yes, the personality grasp is solid at this point, as I also haven't missed any details. I find him the most extreme of this prototype of character, even when the ruthless/calculating/schemimg type is in another novel, let's just say that the others play it safe on the line but FY goes all in. And of course, hardships and ups and downs are coming, but I find him too 'protected', after the events in ch. 400 I don't really fear anything going too bad, even if he eventually loses the SAC or is unable to use It at a convenient time. What I'm getting at is, I know It won't be smooth sailing, but I can't get myself to doubts that the ship will eventually get to port. Whereas in other novels/manga that I most enjoy I have to stop and think because I know that even the MC's can lose or get f*ck*d.

No, the MC is one dimensional. Not to say it's bad, but it's one dimensional nonetheless

One dimensional in the sense that he has only one ambition? Yes. One dimensional in the sense that he'll do anything for his ambition? Yes. Otherwise? No. He's actually quite broad-minded. He's extremely objective in every step he takes. He actually thinks about the consequences and troubles that follow before taking a step. He's experienced the world so much that he's wise and extremely pragmatic. He considers all aspects of an occurrence before making a move. Fang Yuan likes benefits to his core, but never takes risks unless and until he has absolute confidence he can pull through.

It's not one dimensional, he is fully developed as a character. He is not the typical MC facing hardships and Growing. He has already grown to the Point where he won't change anymore no matter the hardships. We just didnt See his character growth but it doesnt mean he was always like this. The small glimses into his past reflect. Example - Uncle Big Beard.

thanks for responding, for question 2, i mean the magical concept in this novel seems boring to me, and not exciting at all. I'm more use to the standard style. As the story progresses does the Gu system idk get exciting or seem good?

The system of gu is indeed different from other novels. BUT I can assure you that the whole gu world building and gu system is OP. And I personally absolutely loved it. Currently, i am in chapter around 1300-1400.

Give it time bro. It'll slowly grow on you. It is an unconventional power system for sure but everything is completely detailed in the novel. So detailed that at some point you'll have some of those descriptions by heart. The first book is just laying the foundations for the story to unfold and all the mechanics and functionalities that the Author laid out will come into play as the plot progresses. Going through the novel, you'll encounter some of the most hype and jaw dropping fights you'll ever come across. The applications of the power system by using Gu is immeasurable and the creativity of the author peaks throughout the novel.

Hmm, see, what does exciting mean to you? Something blood boiling?? If you're talking about it being hype then it is undoubtedly so, as you go along it becomes evident that the power system was made for hype moments, but the system itself is inherently boring at the start since he's stuck in a mountain 🌄, the true exciting stuff comes after he leaves the mountains, till then the Gu system is inherently bland, mostly because the author made it so that the Gu system is as versatile as possible, so versatile infact that even the mc who lived 500 years admits that he barely knows 1 percent of the thousands of Gu, if one is stuck in a well, then one only sees the water in the well making it seem boring, but if one were to get out of the well then he'll see the oceans and rivers, tornadoes and tsunamis, what you essentially thought was uninteresting becomes interesting, why? Because you see the extent of it, you see that the water in the well was just a small drop.
